Dating Start

Too Shy

Dating in Town

Dating is not easy and I always wondered why some people found it to be fun and I struggled so much with it. Why couldn’t I be like them and just enjoy it?

Because I was extremely shy and grew up with old-fashioned values, that’s why. The first time I was asked to be somebody's girlfriend, my crush in town, was the only time I ever talked to that boy.

I was 14-years-old when I developed a crush on this very popular boy in my town. I think he was about 18 at the time. I was a freshman in high school and he was a senior. Every time I saw him, I would take off running, so it did not take long for him to figure out I liked him.

One time he asked me to meet him at the park, June 24th, where he asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes and then took off running. That was the only time he was able to talk to me.

I would take off running every time I saw him. That did not change after he asked me to date him, except for the one time when I introduced him to my very sexually aggressive cousin, who went ahead and slept with him.

I found out by a letter she had the audacity to send him with me. I was a bit suspicious, so I had to read the letter. Then shyness turned into coldness, and to be honest, it felt like a big deal at 14.

A month or so after that, he moved to another country and wrote me a letter telling me what a wonderful girl I was, but too painfully shy. By then I was already over it.

Then a few months later I had another boy ask me out, by the way, this was all behind my parents’ back, no way they would allow me to date at that age. This was another popular boy in town.

He asked me to meet him at the park one early evening and I did. He tried to kiss me, but I wouldn’t part my lips. Then he said that I needed to open my mouth, but I did not. I was humiliated because I thought that should have been something I needed to know.

Needless is to say that we never dated. Of course, it seemed like a big deal back then, especially being so young.

Those two experiences started a wild ride in my life. Conservative, but still a wild ride of crazy dating stories, which I will be happy to share with you guys.
