CHAPTER ONE
As Dave was leaving work someone caught his eye, his breath hitched and had to do a double take of this beautiful woman. Something in the depths of his being said he knew this woman, but he didn't remember ever actually meeting her. Dave walked toward the woman before he realized she was already walking towards him.
Dave - "Hi I'm Dave and I don't mean this to sound weird, but have we ever met?"
Dawn was done with her late interview when she noticed this man walking down the hall towards her and had a sudden rush of nostalgia, which made no sense as she knew she had not met this man before. Without realizing it Dawn was walking towards him when he suddenly asked her if they had ever met.
Dawn- "I'm Dawn and I don't believe we have, but you seem oddly familiar."
Dave was puzzled by how suddenly he felt calm yet excited just being near Dawn, looking at her, even talking to her. Dave knew he needed to get to know this woman!
Dave- "Would you consider going on a date with me? I know it's a bit sudden, but I just can't get past this feeling that we've met before."
Dawn- "Yes, would tonight do?"
Dave - Surprised by her quick response. "Yes, lets exchange contacts and I'll pick you up at seven p.m."
In the excitement Dave could not decide on any one thing to do, so he decided to do several simple things that would give them the most time to converse. Dave arrived at Dawn's in a nice pair of jeans, a comfy t-shirt and a leather jacket. Dawn walked out and caught herself taking in the view of this very handsome man, who looked even more so in such a simple outfit! She herself had on a form fitting pair of jeans and t-shirt and a little hooded leather jacket. Both surprised at how they dressed so comfortably similar helped put their first date jitters at ease.
Dawn- Smiling with a slight blush "So where are you taking me, or would you like me to decide something?"
Dave- " I have a few things in mind, before we get to eat if that is fine with you?"
Dawn- Nervously she decided to just go with the flow! "Whatever you have in mind is great!" She was secretly incredibly happy that this man could make some of the decisions on his own without telling her every detail and keep some fun mystery.
Dave brought them to their first destination, Putt-Putt golf. Dawn was excited to play and to see if this man would be competitive with her! while playing they talked, laughed, joked, and really enjoyed each other's company. They kept the conversation light, only discussing some of their daily habits and a little of their background history, such as school and previous work experiences. Towards the end of the course Dave told Dawn that he was now taking her to a carnival, just so they could ride a couple rides before they head to have supper.
Upon arriving at the carnival Dawn noticed how lively it still was with so few people around, being the Carnival had just set up in town a few hours before. Dave took her over to a concession stand where they grabbed a couple drinks and some cotton candy. Then he led her to the Ferris wheel, where they enjoy 3 turns around it before moving on to the next ride. while on the Ferris wheel they did not converse much, but rather took in the beautiful views and commented back and forth about them. Now Dave and Dawn were holding hands and hadn't really noticed as they walked through the Fun House together laughing at all their funny reflections. They took their time then decided to go on the Gravitron, they walked on and noticed the only two seats left were right next to one another. they stood in their places and watched each other in amusement and awe as the machine spun them over and over faster and faster until it finally came to a stop. Dawn was giggling at how Dave was walking slightly to the left and not very straight as the ride had affected their walking a little. Dave laughed some more when they got off and was enjoying this simple date without any pressures that most dates come with. Dawn thought to herself how easy it was to converse with this man as if she knew him for years, yet she still had a calm excitement about what was to happen next.
Dave took them back to his condo in the city where they had a candlelit dinner for two set up near the fireplace, while sitting on the floor. He already had dinner for two prepared and Dawn pondered on when he had the time to make it! Before they sat, Dave took Dawn on a tour of his home. He made sure to show her the separate bedrooms with their own bathrooms, four in total and Dawn questioned to herself why this man had so many rooms when he lived alone? Then the two separate living spaces, the main one with the fireplace and dinner waiting and the second was more of a fun room, with a pool table, tv, and its own minifridge with several drink choices. then his office which was back near the front of the house and kitchen. once the tour was over and Dawn was in awe over how well decorated his home was, she questioned carefully on how he decided on the decor in the different rooms.
Dave got them back in the main living space where their dinner was waiting and sat Dawn down at the table and poured them each a glass of merlot, while still conversing. Then Dave also made sure to pour a couple fresh glasses of ice water and uncovered their meal. As they had dinner the conversations were full of their past and all the experiences they had from now back to grade school. And time was flying by before they knew it the sun was already rising!
Dawn- "Would you like to watch the sunrise? Since we stayed up this late, we might as well enjoy the view!"
Dave- "Of course! Then we should get some rest, you can stay in the guest room and not worry about getting across town now."
Dawn- " If it's really okay with you, then sure."
Dave- "Yes ma'am! I would feel better knowing you got to sleep safely."
They decided to finish this first date by watching the sunrise together before setting Dawn up in the guest room where she could spend the night. Dawn was a bit surprised Dave suggested she sleep over and still a gentleman about it letting her stay in the guest room!
Dawn- "Shall we have Breakfast together in the morning?"
Dave- "I'd love too! We could consider it the start of our second date."
Dawn- Happy with Dave's eagerness decided this date was the best date fate could have brought her. " Thank you, for the lovely evening, I had a great time!"
They decided that date two would start with breakfast! Dave led Dawn back into the guest bedroom where he loaned her a pair of his sweats and a t-shirt to sleep in, and thankfully he had a new spare toothbrush for her. He showed her the towels and washcloths in the bathroom and told her to make herself at home. This comment made him extra happy at the thought of her living with him and at that thought he told her goodnight and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
As Dawn laid her head on the pillow, her mind happily raced through the events of the day and how comfortably happy she was. Dawn drifted off to sleep at the thought of the morning was the start of date number two!
