If you ever have to ask, you shouldn't own one. Brass Knuckles are a supplement to firearms "gun-barrels." These knuckles were popular in the early 20th century and were a common type of fighting weapon used by criminals, "dance hall girls," night clubs, and other places that allowed weapons. They can be used as either an offensive or defensive weapon.

Oftentimes, these knuckles will be attached to a belt loop so the user can quickly carry them on their person for quick access. They also make for both intimidating sounds and intimidating-looking weapons which is often the goal of their use and purpose.

Brass Knuckles History

The earliest known knuckle dusters date back to the year 589 AD when a 15th-century Italian man was found with an intact set of knuckles in his grave by archeologists who were excavating a cemetery near Rome, Italy. These knuckles have been used for so long that there is no way to tell for sure where or when they originated from.

They were most common during the Industrial Revolution and in the time leading up to it because of the increased civil unrest in the 17th and 18th centuries. These Knuckles have also been used by many different types of people. They have been used by both law enforcement and criminals alike.

They have also been used as tools as well, both in construction as well as in home improvement. The use of knuckle dusters has come to be a controversial topic because they are illegal to use anywhere without a permit or a weapon that is registered with the government.

Types of Knuckle Dusters:

There are several different types of Knuckles out there on the market today. The most common type of brass knuckles you will find will be the fixed-position pair that is worn on an everyday person's belt loop for convenience and easy access.

Another common type of knuckle duster will be the mobile pair that is attached to a keychain or some other kind of mobile device. These are not just knuckles, but a weapon that is capable of doing a lot more damage than the fixed-position pair and may be outlawed in your area.

The third and final type of knuckle duster you will find on the market today will be the pair that is worn on your hand, like a glove. These are considered illegal in most jurisdictions and are quite rare. They can be made out of any material you would like, but it's difficult to make one that does not have inherent weakness' compared to traditional brass knuckles because they're meant to be used as everyday accessories.

Major Uses and Applications:

Brass knuckles (also called knuckle dusters) are a type of weapon designed to fit over a person's hand. They were originally made from a length of expanded metal, with pointed ends meant to cause serious damage when hitting another person.

The knuckles were the first weapons used by criminals in America and have been illegal in the United States since 1938- surprisingly, it’s still legal to own them in most other countries. These knuckles typically consist of two pieces that fit together around your fingers like gloves.

These pieces are usually connected with hinges or pins that allow them to be opened from an open position (fingers straight) into a closed position (bent fingers). Here are the major uses of knuckle dusters;

Self Defense

Brass knuckles have been in use for centuries throughout the world as a means of self-defense. During medieval times, they were thought to be magical and used by knights to give themselves a stronger grip on their weapons. In certain parts of Asia, knuckles are still considered a magical thing that can protect you from ninjas, allowing you to fight off any attacker without fear.

Hitting Boxes

The first use of knuckles for hitting boxes began during the Spanish-American war (1898) with soldiers at Fort Canby, Oregon. They found out that brass knuckles with a hooked end (like boxing gloves) were more effective at hammering boxes. During World War I, Marines used them to puncture corrugated steel, metal trash cans, and wooden doors for better penetration.

Hitting Cars

Boxing gloves with knuckles on the end of them are often used by car thieves as a means of breaking into your vehicle so they can steal whatever is inside. It’s also used by criminals to pry open the doors of automobiles or trucks while the owners are driving away to sway the blame in their direction and make them look like they were trying to start a fight when they did so.

Hitting People

These knuckles have been used by criminals to beat people, most often with the intent of robbing them or taking their lives. These weapons were designed as cheap weapons that would cause the maximum amount of damage possible without spending a lot of money.

The metal used in making them was largely copper, brass, and nickel, meaning they were easy to bend using your hands. Although the need for these weapons has passed, many people are still looking for them because they are seen as an antique or collectible rather than a weapon.
