As a carnival danced through a city, a boy with blue hair dealt MDMA to its revellers. He skirted past a girl whose dolly shoes sporting a big red bow, weren’t fit for skanking through baselines, but found customers amongst her friends. A swift-flicker of her gaze was held captive in his eyes; as if they were a swimming pool collecting speckled-yellow-spots from her rays.
They were so cosy, his eyes; glowing above a smile so soft that later, in the garden of a house party, she purchased one of his pills and offered him half. Soon, the girl and the boy with the blue hair lay melted together on the green-grass, with his Lapis Lazuli curls lulling into her lap.
For the first time, her long-brown hair sunk into fluffy-white marshmallow clouds. Then her body reclined onto an invisible lilo which floated on the air above them. Like a winged-woman with her elbow to the lilo, she rested her knuckles under her cheekbone and allowed her fingers to trace the fine-pink strokes of his mouth: where feathers had painted so delicately above his chin. She thought of holding each lip between her own.
Below her she saw her friends mouths: acting out crescent moons; mostly smiles, some drooping like sad cartoons. Then the boy with the blue hair took her hand, touched his warm cheek to hers and guided her back into the house of the party. He sold some pills and they found a bed inside. He said he wouldn’t be able to come but this time turned out fine. She felt her cheeks rise into mini moons as he held his lips to her hand, and to her forehead after. The girl stretched her hands above her head and felt the party vibrate through the wall. The boy with the blue hair slowly drew a line with his finger all the way from the tip of her hand down to her bare breast. Feeling the music through the wall, the girl dressed and left the bed. The boy with the blue hair blew a kiss from his hand, locked her eyes and curled his fingers towards him, beckoning. But her fingers plucked at, then stroked the baselines which rippled through the house, dancing herself back to the speakers where her friends mixed with strangers bodies, drawing various shapes into the warm and golden air.
The girl stood at the garden door, squinting into the shimmying swirls and sparkles, trying to decipher a friendly face: someone to aim her intention to be outside for. A boy who was too-tall saw her eyebrows moving up and down. He took her by the hand, twirled her onto his long finger, and pulled her up onto her tiptoes. With her, he drew a circle. She let out a sigh without knowing why, and sat in the shadow of a tree, securing her spine to the trunk. “You’re still here!” His teeth shone at her, “I’ve got that wine for you!” She nodded as he poured their wine into her glass and they swapped friendly chit-chat in the shade of the tree. After pouring her third glass he asked to kiss her and she regretfully obliged.
Whilst their lips moved through motions, she dreamt she had been dreaming of a boy with blue hair. Her dreams showed her glitter falling into this boy’s eye and whenever he blinked some of it would fall away, then a strand of his blue hair would go grey. She opened her eyes once the tall boy’s face had moved away, to see a strand of blue hair waiting on her thigh. But she missed the boy with the blue hair, who had slipped away after he came outside to bring her back to him, after seeing the MDMA lead her astray.
