Lynette sat in the back of the classroom wishing that it was anyone else’s birthday except Larissa’s, but of course wishes don’t come true and it WAS Larissa’s. Larissa was the most popular girl in her grade and she always made everyone know it too. The rumor that was going around her school at the moment was who and who wasn’t invited to her party which every year was the biggest in the town.

She even had a list drawn up and put on the school notice board of who was to be there and who would never ever be invited. Everyone always looked at those lists in the morning and by lunchtime there would be laughter throughout the cafeteria about someone who had been humiliated by Larissa for not being worthy of her presence.

But it was even worse today because when Lynette happened to walk past Larissa in the hall she spotted her and said loudly,

“Hey there goes Loser Lynette, who doesn’t have the guts to talk to me or even try to” Lynette quickly hurried off, but not before she heard Larissa say to her friend,

“She is so weird”

And Lynette knew that the teasing and whispering would continue up until the party.

That afternoon Lynette rang her friend Nicole,

“I so hate Larissa, she is making my life a living hell! I wish that she could move out of our school, out of all our lives and go somewhere else”

Nicole agreed, though pointed out that, which would never happen not even in a million years.

This was because Larissa’s dad was mayor and had funded the school for years, so it looked like Lynette had to put up with Larissa for as long as she was there. Since the next day was Saturday, Lynette was relieved that she didn’t have to go to school and that she could either hang out with her friends or with her family in whatever they were doing that day.

In the end, it turned out that her family was in fact going to their grandparent’s house. This excited her as her favourite cousin Kelly was to be there, as she lived with them in return for helping out on the farm, in which they lived.

When they got there, Lynette raced out of the car to give her grandparents both kisses and to give Kelly a hug, in which of course they returned.

Later on, when Kelly and Lynette were walking around the farm, she considered telling her that Larissa was still giving her a hard time, even more than when she had last told her about three months ago.

Kelly fortunately knew exactly where Lynette was coming from, seeing that she herself had also been a victim of Larissa and her family as well not to long ago. But with her, it was Larissa’s older sister Michaela who had been torturing Kelly which was one of the reasons that she had moved from where Lynette now lived.

This was because she couldn’t stand it, due to the pressure and stress since her parents had died in a horrific car accident just before that.

Now that Lynette knew that Michaela had told Larissa everything about Lynette’s cousin, she knew just what to do and say to drive them to the edge.

Unfortunately it was working. But she didn’t want to be the one who had to move, because she wasn’t the problem, Larissa was, but there was no way she would ever move.

Then Lynette thought of something, if she did find a way of getting rid of Larissa then maybe things would be alright after all. But what could she do, I mean it was the Mayor’s daughter we were talking about here, which was one of the most popular people in the town.

Lynette then decided to call a meeting for all of her friends to just sit around an talk about Larissa. Most of her friends had been bullied and putdown by Larissa’s remarks while they had been friends with her, so they had refused to be her friend no longer.

Now that they had joined up with Lynette and Nicole, she couldn’t have been happier in having more help with her campaign.

That afternoon in the comfort of her bedroom, the meeting began to take form as every one agreed that they would have to force Larissa to leave, if not willingly.

But how, it was hard to think of the perfect plan because it meant that the whole family had to go not just Larissa, due to the fact that they were all mean and inconsiderate people, and if they left their town would be a friendlier place. It was hard to think of something, which was appropriate so that the whole town didn’t know it had been them, well not just yet anyway.

After the meeting had ended, Lynette sat on her bed thinking, just then the phone rang, it was Larissa.

“Hi Lynette, what are you up to? I hope you are not trying to think of ways to get rid of me, because you know what, it won’t work” then she hung up.

Shocked, Lynette put the phone down and all of a sudden wondered how Larissa had gotten her number as none of her friends would ever dream of talking to Larissa, let alone give her my number. So how did she get it then she kept on wondering.

Her thinking was interrupted by the phone ringing again, but she didn’t answer it fearing it may be Larissa again. She decided to pick it up and not say anything, but when she picked it up she could hear someone shouting. It was Nicole telling her to turn the TV on and to change it turn a certain channel.

Thinking it was about a famous star or something, she turned on the TV, but to her surprise Larissa’s tear stained face filled the screen and said,

“Hello everyone, my name is Larissa and I am afraid I have some very bad news that will shock all of you” she began “This afternoon our house was burnt right to the ground, and as we didn’t have insurance………… we are……leaving tomorrow” then she stopped as she erupted into tears and ran off stage.

Wow, oh my god, thought Lynette, I mean she was awful, but having your house burnt down and realizing you had no insurance that is bad. I wonder who did it?
