“We made it!” Abigail exclaimed. As she and Mandy walked into their dorm room. Amanda who she affectionately called Mandy was Abigal’s best friend since high school and now they were in college.

It’s perfect.” Mandy said.

The two girls looked at each other then plopped on the beds laughing.

Maybe we will see some cute guys in class.”

“We’re here to learn.” Abigal said smiling.

Whatshould we do first.” Mandy asked?”

Well first we have to put our stuff away. And then fix up this room. After that I have an appointment with the Registrar at 2::30.

“Don’t worry Abby everything will be fine. You got this”.

“I hope so. I really want to be a fashion designer.

The girls finished putting away their things. And when the room looked exactly the way they wanted it. It was time for Abigal’s appointment.

She was nervous. But when she got there and talked to the Registrar. She realized that Mandy was right. Everything was paid for by her financial aid. All she had to do was pick up her books from the bookstore. She also found out she could get a part time job from the work study program they had.

“You were right Mandy.”she said as she came back into the room.

“Told you. So do you want to explore the campus?”she asked.

“No I need to go to the bookstore. Can we do it tomorrow?”

“Sure I have some errands to run anyway.”she said.

The next day they went to explore the campus. They walked around trying to familiarize themselves with the different buildings their classes would be in.

They passed by some students sitting in the grass talking. And others were walking around looking at the buildings to. Little did Abigal now there was someone looking at her.

“What you looking at Tony?” Daniel asked?”

Something beautiful.” he answered.

Mandy and Abigal were standing by the library when a guy on a skateboard came by and handed them a flyer.

First concert of the year. All students welcome. Friday. 8p.m. until 12p.m. Get your tickets now! it read.

“You want to go?” Mandy asked.

I don’t know.” Abigal said staring at the ground.

“C’mon Abby it will be fun” she said excitedly.

Oh alright! If I don’t I’ll never hear the end of it.” she said shaking her head.

Mandy started smiling. Smiling and talking all the way back to the dorm.

Abigal dreaded the idea of going to the concert.it wasn’t that she didn’t want to go. She just didn’t like to be around a lot of people she didn’t know. But she did promise and it was Friday.

“It’s Friday! Abby I’m so excited!”

“ I know but I don’t think I have anything to wear.”

“Yes you do. You are going to this concert Abigal Coleman. And your going to have fun.” Mandy demanded. She stood there arms crossed her feet patting on the floor.

“Alright. Okay. I’ll find something to wear.” Abigail said shaking her head.

Good because if it were up to you. You wouldn’t go anywhere or do anything.”

Despite it being September it was a warm night. So the concert was outside. There was a lot of people already there. When the girls got there . The music was loud and people were screaming so Abigal really didn’t hear him when he said hello. When he tapped her on the shoulder she jumped.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.” he screamed. Abigal turned her head to see the most handsome man she had ever seen. He smiled and she just melted.

He motioned her to follow him away from the noise. She followed him to a bench under some trees a few feet away. As they sat down Abigal became nervous. She started shuffling her feet and staring at the ground.

“Now that we are away from the noise I would like to introduce myself.”he was saying . Abigal was still staring at the ground.

My name is Anthony, but my friends call me Tony.” He looked at her waiting for her to answer back. She looked up at him.

“Oh I’m Abigal my friends call e Abby.”she said shyly.

“I know we just met ,but could I ask you something?”

“Sure.” Abigal said nervously. Staring at the ground again.

“My friend and I are hosting a dinner party at his house. And I was wondering if if you would come with me.”

“Me ?” she asked.

“Yeah. Will you come?”

He so handsome. He probably has a girlfriend or two. Why is he asking me? But if I say no Mandy will give me the collegeshould be fun lecture she thought to herself. He was sitting there waiting patiently for her to answer. Reluctantly she agreed.

“Okay.”she replied.

“Really?” He sounded excited.

“Give me your number and I’ll text you the where and when.” he said smiling. She gave him her number. They said goodbye and then Abigal went back to the dorm. When she got there Mandy was already there.

“Where did you disappear to?”

“With a George kid manwho asked me out to dinner.” Abigal said smiling.

“Your lying.” Abigal shook her head no still smiling.

“Well you probably told him no. Abby you have to stop being so shy all the time.”she told her sitting on the bed beside her.

“As a matter of fact I said yes. And he is going to text me the where and when.”

“You gave him your number?” Mandy asked surprised.

“Feeling alright?” Mandy asked laughing as she touched her forehead.

“Ha Ha . I only said yes so I wouldn’t have to listen to your Abby college is supposed to be fun lecture.” Abigal said rolling her eyes.

“My work is done.” Mandy said proudly as she walked over to her own bed.

The first week of school went by so slow. But it was busy with learning which building the classes were in and then actually getting there. Getting to know the professors. And all of them gave us homework.

Finally Saturday arrived. The day for dinner with Tony. She ewas nervous and couldn’t decide on what to wear. Then Mandy came to her rescue.

“Calm down. You will look beautiful no matter what you wear. And I’ll help you with your makeup and hair. Finally she was ready. When she walked out the door to the dorm Tony was waiting for her.

“Your beautiful.”

You don’t look so bad yourself.”

“Ready?” Abigal nodded and they got into the car and were on there way. Tony pulled up to a big house. He’s rich she thought to herself.

“This is my friends house. One day I will be living in a house like this.”They walked to the door and Tony took her hand. The door opened and there stood a tall guy was standing there smiling.

“Tony you made it.And who is this beauty?”

“This is Abigal”

“ Well come in Abigal. Were Tony’s friends. I’m Daniel. Those two on the couch is Marcus and Maria. They have been together since kindergarten .And the lovely lady setting the table is Laura.

“Make yourself at home dinner is ready.” Laura said. After everyone was seated Daniel came in from another room with a bottle in his hand.

“ Abigal try this” Daniel said.

It’s a bottle of my dads finest Merlot. At least that’s what he would say. Swiped it from the wine cabinet.”he said with a big grin on his face. Abigal sipped the wine. It was good. She held the glass in front of her and smiled.

“She likes it.”Everyone was eating and talking. After awile Daniel asked Tony if he wanted to help with dessert. When they were in the kitchen he asked him.

“Is she yoursomething beautiful?”

Yeah she is”

“You going to break her heart?”he asked mimicking a girl crying.

“No I think she’s going to break mine.” he said leaning against the kitchen wall sipping his wine.

Dessert was a delicious and the whole night had went better than Abigal had expected. Or maybe it was the wine. It was time to go. They said their goodbyes and Tony took her back to the dorm.

“Did you have fun?”

“Yeah I did. I like your friends.”

“Maybe we can do it again. Just the two of us next time.”

“I would love that.” Tony said goodnight. Abigal walked into the dorm room and plopped herself on the bed.

“How was your date?” Mandy asked.

“Wonderful. Tony was such a gentleman.” Abigal said closing her eyes.

“So when do I get to meet Mr. Georgeous? Mandy asked her. But Abigal was asleep.

The End.
