Who knew where this night would go? Would it be the start of something great, or the beginning of the biggest mistake of my life. No matter what it would be an adventure for both Jules, and I. We had met through a very dear friend of mine. She knew I was coming out of a bad relationship and really wasn't ready for dating but also going stir crazy from this Corona Virus.
Jules, what a different name that was from what I was used to, you know like Fred, Henry, even Tripp, sounded more normal then Jules. He had said it was short for Julian Theodore Samson III, and his mother had named him, his mother whom he loved very dearly. She wanted to carry on his father's name and his grandfather's name. His father had passed on about three years ago from cancer and his mother had been through quite an ordeal. She was getting to a point where she didn't need around the clock care and he was getting a little more free time just before Covid hit.
There goes the doorbell, he is here, and I am ready, now that is a surprise. I am never ready, but I had been preparing for this moment for most of the afternoon, and looking down at my watch I can see he is right on time. When I open the door I see the most gorgeous dark haired man with the biggest, deepest, blue eyes I have ever seen. Honestly they were like pools of a lake and I was starting to drown in them. His dark skin was as smooth as it could be and the outfit he had on was just as striking as he was. He brought his hand up and said, "I brought some Merlot, this is good stuff, I thought we could enjoy it while we get to know each other."
I knew at that moment that I wanted to know this man more then anything else I had ever wanted in my life. He was holding my favorite Bright Cellars wine in his hand. I found my voice, and said, "please come in I will find a couple of glasses and we can get to know each other over your wine." "By the way, that is my favorite." He said, "Mine too." We both said at the same time, "That's one thing we have in common."
As the night went on and dinner was over, I began to wonder where he had been all of my life. I was so thankful for Majorey for setting us up, I had to remember to send her a bottle of "our wine". I knew this was going to be a good thing. He was a good looking man with a great job and no baggage, no x's, no children, just him and his beautiful smile and great sense of humor, oh yeah and his great taste of wine.
He said he had a great time meeting me and asked if we could go out again this weekend. Of course I said yes. He then told me it was getting late and he had an appointment early in the morning so he had to get going. I told him I was sorry he had to leave so soon, he said he was too. He admitted he hadn't left a lot of time for the date for fear of things going the wrong way. In retrospect he wished he hadn't.
He said when we went out this weekend he would bring a bottle of "our wine", and of course because of the Covid, going out meant we would have a date at his place this time.
As I closed the door behind him, I knew this had been the start of something great.
