Darkness Descends

With the world spiraling in a downwards descent, there is little telling of what will happen next. The virus looms over our heads, its presense and darkness suffocating, overwhelming. Nowadays, it seems even taboo to think of "It can't get any worst.. can it?" Oh but yes it can. It can most definitely get worst.

Governments across the world, notice the plural on governments, have been planning this apocalpyse for ages. They have had enough of the stupidity of humankind and how humans give in to fear and chaos in the wake of supreme and absolute power. The humans never imagined that an invisible foe would take the lives of so many, would pit neighbor against neighbor and have people revert back to their primal evils and find a scapegoat for all of their misfortunes and troubles. Because it is much easier to find a target to put all the blame and hurt on. Isn't it?

Now, I know what you must be thinking. Well, aren't our government leaders and elected officials human too? What would they gain from chaos? Actually, the question should be: Why shouldn't the government gain everything from the chaos?" It causes stocks to go up and down to their planning and liking, the big companies are relient on the governments to cut them some slack, and with the common people pitting themselves against each other, killing each other off and creating a great divide, leaders hardly have to lift a finger to ensure their plan is going smoothly. Ah, but I digress. I was talking about government officials and whether or not they were humans too. Well...

I'll leave that up to your own imagination hehe...

Now as for the title of this article, it surely must've made you a bit.. curious? Perhaps..

Afraid? Of the darkness in everyones' hearts?

Yes. And No.

Intimidated and intrigued by what lies beyond the darkness and also curious about everything inside the darkness. Well, for that tale, we would have to start at the very beginning. The beginning of the first family. However, this is no story mind you. This is the present, the past, and the future. This is your neighbor living across the street from you and this...

This. Is. You.

Did you really think dysfunctional families lived in the minds and books of the poor and depressed authors whose lives ended too soon? Did you really think that they were just there to expand your mind and broaden your perspectives by exposing you to situations that you have never experienced and thank goodness will never experience in your entire life? Did you think that the people experiencing these circumstances were a dime a dozen and that less than 0.1% of the world's popualtion are in these types of situations. Wrong. Very, very wrong. The number is actually much higher given our current virus situation and even if the number was 0.1% of the world's population, that number is still very, very significant.

The people in a dysfunctional family aren't always there because they "asked for it" or "are suddenly hit by a serious of misfortunate events". Nor are they always bad at communication and think about their own interests. Not all dads are alcoholics and useless (well, not quite sure about the last part), and not all mothers are overbearing and helicopter parents. So? What is it that makes a dysfunctional family dysfunctional?

Manic episodes. Often released by the male counterparts of the human species, these can be spontaneous and scare the living soul out of individuals.

Patronization. The feeling of inferiority no matter what you do and that no matter what you do, it is and never will be enough. The fall.. into a depressive state that you don't quite know what to do with yourself. You feel like a husk, an empty shell that is listless and just living one day to the next, waiting for the day where you can finally pass peacefully without causing a burden on your family members.

Reality. Not knowing how to differentiate between what is real and what is not. Even though we think that we are of our own sound mind, we can never be 100% absolutely sure.

So? Is there some truth, reader?
