If you don't value yourself, you can't live life to the fullest. Therefore, if you do not have enough self-esteem, you need to cultivate it step by step. It's like having a broken wheel. We know how to move a vehicle with deflated wheels.

Maybe it's enough to go for a bike ride in the yard, but that way you won't have to travel long distances, to get around the world you need to do a total check to make sure everything works perfectly. In life, we have long journeys with serpentines, ascents, and descents, which require a lot of responsibility on our part. If the person is not prepared enough for the trip, then he will sit on the side of the road, sadly watching the passing vehicles pass by.

Lack of self-esteem is based on fear. It is often the irrational feeling of fear, illogical and exaggerated (as is usually the case with all fears), yet it makes our lives bitter, strays from our path, and takes us further and further away from our goals, causing mistakes. Unfortunately… this in turn deepens self-dissatisfaction.

Here are the mistakes made by a self-respecting person:

It's complicated to take the first step

When a person does not believe in his strength, it is difficult for him to start everything. He is afraid of failure and does not think that his idea can be successful, so he wonders why to start something else?

But if you want to find yourself, to find your predestination, your interests, and your people, the only sure way is to try everything, and if you understand that this is not for you, you start doing something else.

Man begins to do something, learns, makes mistakes, gains experience, draws conclusions, and starts over. That's life. It is natural that you do not know what you want and that you are afraid of something new.

He reveals a secret to you: the beginning always goes hand in hand with fear, anxiety, and discomfort. This applies to everyone without exception.

Fear of being criticized

Yes, people are used to criticizing, condemning. That is the nature of man, and it will always be so. But why do you care? Because you don't have a firewall to protect you from even your criticism and disapproval. You certainly like to criticize yourself and grind for some mistakes, and at night I think of different better scenarios "how should I answer or what should I do better".

If the person does not have immunity to self-criticism, then the criticism of those around him will destroy him from within because he will not be able to encourage himself.

Avoiding new acquaintances

People with a lack of self-respect get to know others only when they are in dire need when they have no choice but to make a huge effort.

Of course, he has friends and acquaintances, but they appeared in such circumstances in the past, when they were forced to meet others (school, university, work team).

But usually, people with low self-esteem are not best friends. They give up a lot, are hard to get rid of, and are unable to help themselves.

Denying its attractiveness and its unique character

Here's a simple test: answer the question right now if there are people without flaws. If you know that all human beings have shortcomings, then why not allow yourself to be gargoyled?

People who value themselves properly, love their gargoyles, and "know their names." They do not hate themselves and accept themselves as they are. Some even dare to turn them into his strengths. The life and biography of Winston Churchill are one of the most eloquent examples. I recommend you read his biography.

First harmless exaggeration, then blatant lies

Indeed, people with low self-esteem are often forced to lie, because sometimes the truth is so painful that the person is ready to break his principles and shamelessly lie. Why? To protect himself and others, he gets confused.

Such people cannot afford to appreciate the situation objectively and realistically. There is a high risk that he will start to project his fears on those around him. For example, he might think that he had offended someone because he was angry with them.

The truth is that man is strong and can cope with the pain of the truth. The overwhelming majority would rather hear the bitter truth than the sweet lie.

I've already written how to accept your body if the dissatisfaction with the way you look undermines your self-esteem. In the next article, you will learn how to change your attitude towards yourself as a whole.

Or life is much more complicated when the person does not respect himself, he is dissatisfied with himself, with his achievements, his character, his abilities, and the way he looks.
