4 Tips To Keep The Spark Alive in Quarantine

If you've read all the books in your house and watched everything Netflix has to offer and you're getting bored, it's time to experiment!

Are you stuck in quarantine with your partner? Did you think it was going to be lazy days full of sex? But has it really turned out to be a shit-show? Are you both ready to claw each others eyes out, in the not-so-sexy way? Well, here are 4 tips to implement in your quarantine before it's too late!

1. Get A Life!

That sounds harsh, I know. But really. Get a life outside of each other. Go for a walk alone, start painting again, read a book! Just hang out in a different room of the house without each other. Just because you're both stuck inside all day doesn't mean you have to be together all day. Have your meals together, go to bed together, watch your favorite show together, but don't revolve your lives around each other. If you notice you're spending too much quality time together, take a step back and spend some time alone.

I know it can be difficult to find somewhere to go in a 1 bedroom apartment but it's important for your mental health and your relationship that you're not stuck to each other constantly.

2. Try New Things In The Bedroom

This is the perfect time to experiment in the bedroom. What else are you going to do? If you've read all the books in your house and watched everything Netflix has to offer and you're getting bored, it's time to experiment! Watch porn together and try what they're doing. You might learn something new and you both might enjoy a night of something different. Or try role-playing! It might seem silly at first, but when you get into it you might find something new you both like. When you're in a long-term relationship, sex can sometimes get boring. You both know each others bodies and you both know what to do to make the other feel good, so try something different. I promise this will definitely spice things up and you'll be excited like you were in the beginning!

3. Go On Dates

Yes, you're in quarantine but that doesn't mean you can still go on a date. You can have a picnic in the living room and just enjoy each others company. You can draw each other, cook something new together, play a bored game or video game, take turns reading a book to each other, play charades, dance together to your favorite songs. Just get creative! Just because you can't leave the house doesn't mean you can't still be wined and dined.

4. Set Clear Rules

This one is not very sexy, but it's realistic. It's important to set clear boundaries and rules for the time you'll be spending together. Maybe your rule will be no video games or work after 9 pm. After 9, that's the time you will spend together. Or maybe you can set a de-cluttering rule. Each of you de-clutter a different area of the house, it doesn't have to be at the same time or the same area as long as a little bit gets done everyday. This can help keep your place tidy, you'll feel accomplished, and you'll know that both of you are doing something to keep up your share of the housework. Speaking of housework, set a rule that if one of you cooks the other cleans, or if one of you does the laundry one day the other will do it the next time. Just take turns and don't expect all of the chores to fall on one person. That's not fair and it can lead to needless arguments.

I hope these tips can help you and your partner not murder each other during these trying times. I know how difficult it can be to be cooped up in a small space with someone, no matter how much you love them it's inevitable that you're going to get on each others nerves. But it's important to take a step back and still live separate lives. Your relationship will thank you in the long run.
