10 tips on: Meeting New People ONLINE.

No, it's not as scary as it sounds...

You know it, that online dating tends to be rather shallow. This is our society now, we are all very busy, and this makes life. . . easier?

Think about it, when you're out with friends, you're enjoying the time with them and not searching for a new s/o; that time is reserved for when you're alone. Plus, with COVID-19 and social distancing, the only kind of dating we're doing now is, well. . . virtually.

So, it's time to give in and put in an effort at your online dating profile.

Making your online profile attractive and inviting by highlighting strengths is key to drawing in the right type of interest from genuine potential lovers. Again, putting your best foot forward is necessary in this world of dating.

1.) Figure out what you're looking for honestly, then say that on your profile somewhere. It's okay to deter people who aren't looking for that, you're not looking for a person who isn't looking for the same form of relationship as you! A wide net gives you too many options, a small net is much better.

2.) Upload well lit, attractive, and fun photos of yourself to engage interest and show a bit of your personality. This profile is a reflection of you and what you're like, this is also all the person from the other side of the screen has to go off of.

3.) Write about yourself, take the time to reflect, and then put your best foot forward as you present yourself to someone who may be the love of your life. People find marriages online every day! Just imagine how easy it is to find every other type of relationship!

4.) Avoid writing any "don't wants" or negative comments on your profile. . . However, if that's your personality, then I'd highly suggest to first read about the power of negative thinking vs. positive thinking before attempting online dating. This activity requires optimism and positive visualization!

5.) Use correct grammar! It's okay if you have a minor error, you're not a robot but with Grammarly, spell-check, and all of our devices; it makes you seem a bit lazy.

6.) Fill in all the questions the app you're using asks of you! Don't be lazy!

7.) A simple way to message a love interest online is to comment on something interesting you saw/read on their profile, send a compliment with an introduction of yourself, and/or ask an open-ended question.

8.) Within the first 4 messages schedule a phone call, messaging is so impersonal that you will quickly be forgotten otherwise.

9.) FaceTime within a week of "going mobile."

10.) Live your life how you would like to live it with a partner. I think it's pretty common for us to want to wait for someone else to be "better" with comes along but truly our relationships are just mirrors of ourselves or a belief we hold about ourselves. . . Be the type of person you want to be with.
