You’ve been together for a while, you’ve been through some good times and some bad. But you still have those doubts in the back of your mind: “Will he get bored of me?”. Spending the rest of your life with one person is a big deal, it is.
So here are my top ten ways to know if he really is the one.
1. You Laugh Together
A man that can make you laugh is more likely to keep you happier for longer. Over time you build inside jokes and it doesn’t take much to get you both giggling. The ability to entertain each other is usually one of the first things to falter in long-term relationships so it is important that you spend time messing around together.
2. He makes you feel like the most beautiful woman in the room.
You could be in a room with Kyra Knightly and he would still only be staring at you. How your partner makes you feel is important for long term happiness. You should never have to doubt his attraction to you and he should never compare you to anyone else.
3. You’ve seen each other do the most unattractive of things.
If he has seen you throwing up because of a virus, or on a Sunday morning seriously hungover and wearing last nights makeup, chances are he is a keeper. You shouldn’t have to hide parts of yourself from him. Though this does go both ways!
4. He tries to look after you.
He brings you soup when you’re ill. He thinks of you before himself. These are all signs that he might just be the one. Don’t forget to put him first sometimes too. Everyone needs to feel important in your relationship.
5. He remembers the important things.
In my experience, men’s memories aren’t fantastic. They forget to put the toilet seat down, they forget to take out the rubbish when you’ve asked them and so on. But if he remembers the important stuff, then he might just be the one for you.
6. You are attracted to him.
It might seem vein but attraction plays such a big part in relationships. If you don’t have attraction at the beginning, how do you expect to be attracted to him in twenty years time when certain things are not what (or where) they used to be. Obviously you won’t want to rip his clothes from his body every moment of every day, but you need to look at him and be like “Damn, I am one lucky girl”.
7. He makes you happy.
Now this will drift in and out throughout your relationship, things will happen and you will have your ups and downs but you should never be in the position where you look at him and think “You make me so unhappy”.
8. You Argue
It is okay to bicker and to disagree about things. Expect arguments and to not see eye to eye all of the time. Being together long term is hard, you will definitely have arguments. There is a big difference though in arguing once in a while and spending most of your time together arguing. If it is the latter then he might not be for you.
9. You Communicate
This is a big deal. Relationships often break down because of a lack of communication. Tell him you love him, tell him you miss him, tell him he has annoyed you and expect the same back. Everyone in your relationship should feel comfortable expressing how they feel. Communication is key.
10. Most importantly, you love him.
Now we all know that a relationship cannot last on love alone. But it certainly gives you somewhere to start and something to fight for.
So, is he the one?
