No one is perfect. And no one will ever be perfect. This is a truth - a sad truth, but a truth nonetheless. While it does sound deflating at first, the fact that you're not perfect doesn't have to upset you or break you into pieces.

In fact, this truth can actually be a comfort.

People will judge you no matter what you do. You could be the most excellent person in the entire world and still get judged. The reason why is because people naturally like to form opinions and make judgments about other people (even if they don't know them personally). Basically, folks will judge a book, any book, by its cover.

And toss in a group of nurses or travel nurses, and oh boy, is that a recipe for pettiness.

When we get older, our self-esteem and self-worth start to decline. Life may offer us lemons from time to time, making it difficult to feel good about ourselves, our capabilities, and often our career choices. Positive affirmations are a fantastic method to increase your sense of self-worth by reminding you of your best qualities.

In my experience, positive affirmations have been demonstrated to effectively cope with depression, sadness, pain, hurt, and failure.

Affirmations are weird, though. They just sound so hokey at first.

When you're depressed or hurting, it's challenging to think about positive things about yourself - which is precisely why you need affirmations. So if you can't tell yourself how great you are, keep reading. We're about to shed some light on this topic.

Here are five affirmations about love and relationships that may help boost your self-worth

  1. I am worthy of a healthy relationship. You deserve a healthy relationship, one that makes you feel good about yourself and who you are in relation to your partner.
  2. My happiness is essential, and it shouldn't come at the expense of my partner's happiness. The phrase "happy wife happy life" is not true. Your happiness (wife or otherwise) is a priority!
  3. Being single doesn't mean being lonely - being single means being free. Re-read this one. It hits differently for different folks.
  4. I have a lot to give, and sharing my love makes me happy. Ever heard someone say that you're too giving? Me too. Keep giving.
  5. It's okay to be vulnerable with another person. Being open and honest with a partner is something to celebrate, not fear. It's okay to admit that you're vulnerable with another person - the worst they can say is no.

The best days of your life don't always start with sunshine and rainbows; sometimes, you have to weather the storm to get to the other side.

In addition to these affirmations about relationships, there are also affirmations about your personal qualities that you can tell yourself. Five examples of these are as follows.

  1. I am a good listener. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason.
  2. I have a strong work ethic. When all else fails, who we are between 9-5 or 7-7 speaks volumes about us.
  3. It's okay to make a mistake. It doesn't make me any less valuable as a person. One bad decision doesn't define who you are or what you're capable of accomplishing in life.
  4. My intuition is one of my greatest assets. We all have that 6th sense. That little voice that advises or warns us. Listen to it!
  5. I am generous with my time and money, which is something to be proud of. Karma works both ways. It works for the takers, and it works especially wonderful for the givers.

For maximum benefit, try repeating these affirmations daily. As you get more comfortable with practicing them, you'll find that they have a profound impact on your sense of self-worth.

The final word

Positive affirmations are a terrific method to increase your self-esteem, change your mentality, and refocus on what you want in life. You can't just say one line or dwell on it for a few minutes and expect a shift in your self-esteem or mentality. Affirmations must be recited regularly until they become an important aspect of your life.

Affirmations are best used in conjunction with other strategies that improve your self-esteem, such as talking positively to yourself or reading positive books about self-worth. Affirmations are an excellent way to get started, but they can't do all the work on their own.

We are all in this world together, so let's work together to make it better.
