Phobos' Candle
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. This does not matter quite yet. Don’t begin by tripping over your own feet, for that is no way to start anything at all. For now, keep it in the back of your tired mind. It will surely save you later. Or it might not.

Lingering Ghosts
“The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. In hindsight, that candle had actually been our lighthouse, warning us away from dangerous shores. Instead, like moths to the fire, we had been drawn in by it, letting it guide our way to that god forsaken place. Had we only known what we were walking into… I’d have turned tail and run at first sight of that unholy flame.”

The Cabin in The Woods
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window. The light shone on the cottage, revealing its grotesque appearance. The wooden frame of the door was covered in clinging cobwebs. A strange liquid dripped from the ceilings onto the dusty floors. The wet, dark hardwood floorboards were shrouded in the middle of the room by a moth-eaten rug. The walls were dingy, with peeling paint. The harsh environment peeled away the layers one by one to unveil some of the shanty's hidden secrets. However, some layers remained unpeeled, keeping mysteries that would remain untold.

The Freezing Flame
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The candle had appeared suddenly, out of thin air, and burned an eerie neon blue as it sat atop the windowsill. Though it spread no warmth, it cast many long and streaming shadows throughout the cabin. Within their dark midst, something began to move. A pool of liquid shade, it had no true form; not yet. At the heart of the black puddle, a small blue flame shone brilliantly. The murky gloom around it began to burn, flames as black as night that sucked the warmth from the air around them. The shadow left the cabin and moved into the woods, sensing warmth nearby. The failing light of the setting sun offered many places for it to cling to, to step through.

Who's in the Woods?
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The couple who had been walking in the cold dark night for what seemed like hours came across the cabin by chance. Or was it? The girl, Lacey, saw the flicker of the candle flame in the distance and suggested to her boyfriend Jason, “Hey I think I see a light, a cottage, let’s go see if someone is home”. “Maybe they can help us”. As they walk closer, they see it’s a cabin that has not been easy to find because it was located deep in the woods. The wood was aged and flimsy. The windows were covered with a film of dust and difficult to see through. Dry dead leaves overlaid the ground like a blanket as well as the edges of the ominous cabin. They walk up the creaking steps approaching the door. Jason knocks at the door two times, knock knock, but no answer. “Anyone home?” Still no answer, just the sound of the owls in the trees hooing at every other word. They hear a snap of a twig within the trees but it’s too dark to see. They look around and wait for someone to come out of the trees, but they don’t see anyone. They look at each other and Jason makes another attempt on knocking at the door. “Hi um… me and my girlfriend were out on the road when our car broke down.” “Do you think we can use your phone to call a tow?” he says aloud. No response, he raises his arm again to knock but before his hand hits the wooden door, it opens by itself. Jason pushes the door open gradually, Lacey holds on to Jason’s hand following behind him as they allow themselves inside the cabin.

Observer #19
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window. Pushing away from the circular lens, Observer #19 slowly massages his temples. The night shift at the observation deck has always taken a toll on him, and he feels the onset of a migraine. As his fingers move from his temple to the base of his eye, he flinches. The permanent spherical bruise around his right eye always stings as he reaches the end of his shift. It’s one of the disadvantages of being an Observer; the long hours, the boredom and the unavoidable bruise caused by the telescope lens. But tonight is not like all the nights before. He is certain of what he saw, a candle burning in the previously lifeless environment. Observer #19 knows it isn’t possible, it's been at least a decade since the last known movement on Planet EBeta.23.

The feast
A single candle burned in the window, flickering light and gay, As the cabin it resided in beckoned menacingly for weary travelers. It promised something, something that was both heavy and light, both lying and truthful. Whoever looked at the candle was entrapped like a moth, drawn to the warm light.

Broken Beyond Repair
“Arghhh…Owhhh…” groaned Mason. He slowly gained consciousness and realized he was on the ground. His clothes were covered in dirt and had dry leaves sticking to them. He got up slowly and looked around. He was in the middle of the woods. His head was pounding. That’s when it all came back to him. He remembered what happened. It was his son, Caleb that hit him. He was sure it was Caleb because Caleb’s twin brother, Lucas was standing in front of him. He didn’t see what Caleb hit him with. The last thing he remembered was his hand outstretched to Lucas. He must have passed out after that. Mason didn’t know how much time had passed. He must find his sons before it was too late. ~~~~~
