Advisory: swearing The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. It flickered with the movement of the presence inside, as it moved past it. The silence around the cabin was absolute. If you listened hard, you would be able to hear the wax spitting and crackling in the flame. The creatures of the forest had frozen, permitting no noise to break the calm. No calls, no crack of twigs, no squeal of prey consumed. Their instinct told them to draw no attention to themselves in that moment, to keep to the shadows where the flame did not reach.

The Cabin
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Beth shook out the match that she had used to light the candle. She was there with three friends: Shane, Tom and Lindsey. The cabin was small, about ten feet by twelve, the wooden floorboards and roof was warped by water and time, the boards creaked loudly with every step. It seemed like the cabin would collapse in on itself any minutes. It smelt musky and damp, and the cabin was filled with large cobwebs that took over ten minutes to clear them away. By the time they had made it to the cabin it was almost night time. This hardly made a difference as the cabin was situated in a dense forest with a thick canopy overhead which hid most of the sun from it.

The Lure
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. I stopped and stared at the glow on the glass. What was I seeing? I had hiked passed this cabin for years, but most of the time in the daylight, but tonight I was a bit late as I headed back to the trail and it was dark. The candle burned in the window. Was somebody living there?

Cologne at a Touch
Luke Cologne at a Touch That’s what the advertisement on the wall of the pisser said. It was a large metal square container. Buttons spherically surrounded the middle casing of its door, displaying apparently classic scents such as Obsession, Eternity, and Polo. Luke stood staring bewildered, detached… foggy. He swayed back and forth, as did his piss as he made it — at least mostly — into the grimy toilet. The bowl wafted up a stench so fowl that Luke wondered, even from within his stupor, how anyone could possibly buy cologne when the obvious smell invading their nostrils was that of literal rank shit.

The Dark Christmas
The Dark Christmas Chapter 1 The snow was beating on the windshield of the car. Even with the wipers on the fastest setting Jack couldn’t see a thing. His GPS had taken him on a road he’d never been on before so he was driving slowly on the windy back road. The snow was picking up and he wanted to be home early to see his kids for the first Christmas they’d actually remember.

The Fire Watches You
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. It was unusual seeing life this deep in the woods, even more so on the expanse land of the reserve, but there was no denying the flickering from the cabin below. Milo watched nervously from the lookout tower. He could handle wildfires, but a burning candle meant something more troublesome: humans.

Light in the Dark
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. It was such a small thing, insignificant to the darkness surrounding it. What could one candle hope to accomplish, awash in the black seas of infinity? What could it illuminate here, in this dank, decrepit dump? Dust? Decay?
