fiction
Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
Who's the Father?
As I take a nap in the attic in my mother's teak rocking chair, I'm filled with terror at the solipsistic theory that the world and galaxy exist firmly within my own mind and nowhere else, frail like the complex web of a spider, the black widow which is rapidly poisoning and constructing -- at the same rate as human beings -- rivers, dams, subways, canals, pipelines.

The Party Scene Fundraiser
Slipping off her high heels, Karen stared at the lifeless guy's body, knocked out, not even registering a pulse. Bedtime rituals commencing, the curly blonde, reflected upon the long social obligation she staged. Using the bureau mirror, the rising modern woman, wondered where the script was headed.

Toss and Turn
Call it lucid dreaming. Call it a deeper level of consciousness. I don’t know what it is. But I have trained myself to be aware of the fact that I am dreaming. To be more specific, I have trained myself to recognize when I am having a nightmare. It is a useful tool when that feeling of dread begins to take hold and slowly choke away my will. My method is simple: when I am caught in the nightmare, I shake. I shake my head. I thrash my body back and forth, and two bodies on both planes do this. In reality, the movement jolts me awake, and relief sets in. Home. Safe. Alive.

Demon of my Slumber
Yet another fearful night the same as this whole past week, waking again to the comfort of chirping birds and morning traffic. Surviving the night, the time I so dread, as aggression upon me seems only to escalate. Scanning my room for anything amiss, a person or evidence of someone that watches me in my slumber, though I find nothing disturbed. Jumping out of bed to search every nook and cranky of my house for the invader of the night. Opening doors, looking under my bed, anywhere to confirm a frogger visits me after I fall asleep. Too real to completely dismiss, however again I find no one.

Wrath's Inferno. Top Story - June 2026. Content Warning.
I rub the tiredness from my eyes and crane my neck to listen in the dead of night. I swear I heard a door open. I wave off the thought. It’s probably just my imagination from all of my late nights at work; the doors were locked before I came up. A creaking floorboard stops my heart in my chest, sending a maddening pulse into my ears. Someone is here. Ice slides through my veins with every footstep ascending the staircase and drawing closer. Forcing my stunned limbs into action, I creep along the floor to my window and hide behind my bed like a child. Every too noisy breath dares to give away my position.
