Demon of my Slumber
Transformation
Yet another fearful night the same as this whole past week, waking again to the comfort of chirping birds and morning traffic. Surviving the night, the time I so dread, as aggression upon me seems only to escalate. Scanning my room for anything amiss, a person or evidence of someone that watches me in my slumber, though I find nothing disturbed. Jumping out of bed to search every nook and cranky of my house for the invader of the night. Opening doors, looking under my bed, anywhere to confirm a frogger visits me after I fall asleep. Too real to completely dismiss, however again I find no one.
Tonight, however as I lay sleeping within the darkness upon my bed, pressure beside me begins as though someone presses roughly, with the desire to awaken me. Abruptly growing more intense as the heavy weight of footsteps encircles me, becoming bolder and more threatening. Adamant to wake me, though already awake with paralysis within with eyes as well, I am unable to open. Who taunts me with this hatred? Stomping relentlessly, before running around room, and upon my rooftop, hammering and stamping for hours; the abuse goes on throughout the night. Returning once again to pester me and bounce me relentlessly. Yet finally I am to see what torments me within my nightmares, a demon or something akin. Not a person, as I believed, but some paranormal entity, a pitch-black masculine shaped digital figure, as tiny squares roll in waves within his form. Waving and jumping abnormally high, in a mocking way, almost as if saying 'CAN YOU SEE ME NOW' and laughingly continuing with ' I am here EACH AND EVERY NIGHT'.
After this night, I notice the songs of birds seem different, longing to dismiss this feeling; since there is nothing I can do to change being pulled into another world.
Falling into an exhaustive sleep, again I am awakened, immobile due to a compression from extremely strong webbed like hands upon my legs. Unable to even know they are hands though it is the only logical answer, as I try with all my strength to reach with my hand to confirm its existence. Though, I am unable to rouse myself, nor open my eyes, my limbs remain frozen as a demonic being dances around me. Seeing this demon within my mind, though my eyes remain unwillingly glued shut. Aware that I can do nothing as it torments me all night, beside me, in my room.
Finally, I can see it, if only within my sleep and I never wished for morning to come so much to gain my freedom from this dark entity as he crawled out of my bedroom mirror. Screams bounce within me without escape, as I lay helpless as he grabs my leg to pull me into the mirror. Now to realize, why the birds voice has taken on a demonic sound, so subtle to dismiss. The demon seeking to gaslight me each and every day yet I am being dragged into the mirror.
Finally released from my nightmare, I awoke to familiar noises completely shaken. Knowing there was something very real and evil, in my home. Running outdoors after a quick look around, I needed to be away from THIS house to process my experience.
THIS HOUSE, my new home, a handyman's special, though I do not claim to possess the skills required to restore home, knowing little to nothing about home repairs. Yet my options were few and this home sitting neglected separates me from living on the streets. Purchasing for mere pennies on a dollar.
The birds with their distorted voices, I clasp onto that illusion, I needed to believe so much. Slinging off my blanket, my feet touch the floor, yet they tingle, as I saw waves of my skin change into a digital form. Tiny skin-colored square waves roll; I look to the mirror since I could feel a presence within it. I caught a glimpse of something within it and a hammering sound. Ignoring the tingling running for the exit a claw snatches me. Reaching out of mirror to drag me within its depth. Unable to remove it grasp as screams emit from my lungs, yet I am swallowed within the darkness and by the mirror itself. Finally able to get to my feet, in another world, looking out upon my bed to see myself only just rising from slumber. I began slamming my fist against the mirror to warn myself to RUN, RUN AWAY NOW. However I can only see a disoriented versus as My Other self on the other side of this mirror, has yet to grasp what is happening. Screaming at myself, urging myself to escape before being dragged into this mirror with me, never to escape if all of me gets trapped. I look around in wonder if other mirrors and rooms lie behind me, finally understanding the distortion of birds and morning traffic.
"RUN! LEAVE THIS PLACE! HURRY! GO BACK TO THE TENT.'
However, I watched myself ignoring my warnings, cursing myself for being an idiot. Finally, seeing myself react by crawling from the bed, but its too late as I am sucked further into mirror world. Layer upon layer, within this mirror world, as I see myself struggling to gain freedom, only to lose the battle as I did.
The realization hits the newly captured me and reacts exactly the same, screaming at us to 'GET OUT' of this house. After awhile I realize I am being pushed further into the depth, darkness shrouds everything. I feel so alone as the darkness continues to grow thicker, aware the me on the other side is unsuccessful in escape. Now, completely consumed by darkness, blackness so suffocating, I feel like I am being squeezed within a vice. Trying so hard to comfort myself and calm my thoughts, but I am unsuccessful as screams tear from lungs and I am ejected into ABSOLUTE BLACKNESS. Nothing to touch for comfort, my mind can no longer bring me comfort. I feel myself hoisted in the air by this blanket of blackness, into another blanket of darkness.
