Shadow seen in apartment - Horror story

It was a typical Monday morning when Sarah woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. She groggily reached for her phone, expecting it to be her boss calling to remind her of a meeting. Instead, it was her friend Jess.

"Sarah, you won't believe what happened last night," Jess said, her voice trembling.

"What happened?" Sarah asked, instantly alert.

"I saw something in my room, but when I turned on the lights, it was gone," Jess replied.

Sarah sat up in bed, her heart racing. Jess had always been a bit of a scaredy-cat, but Sarah knew that her friend wouldn't make something like this up.

"I'm coming over," Sarah said.

When Sarah arrived at Jess's apartment, she found her friend sitting on the couch, her face pale.

"What did you see?" Sarah asked.

"It was a shadow, like a person, but when I turned on the lights, it vanished," Jess replied.

Sarah didn't know what to make of this, but she knew that Jess needed her help.

"Let's take a look around," Sarah said, getting up from the couch.

They searched the entire apartment, but they found nothing out of the ordinary. Sarah suggested that Jess get some rest, and promised to come back later in the day to check on her.

As Sarah was leaving the apartment building, she bumped into a man she had never seen before. He was tall, with piercing blue eyes and short, dark hair.

"Can I help you?" Sarah asked, feeling a bit uneasy.

"I'm looking for Jess," the man replied, his voice deep and smooth.

"Why do you need to see her?" Sarah asked, her instincts telling her to be cautious.

"I'm an old friend of hers," the man said. "We used to work together."

Sarah didn't know what to think. Jess had never mentioned this man before, but she didn't want to jump to any conclusions.

"I'll let her know you stopped by," Sarah said, before hurrying away.

As she walked home, Sarah couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She decided to do some research on her own, and spent the rest of the day combing through social media profiles and news articles.

That night, Sarah returned to Jess's apartment, armed with her findings. She knocked on the door, but there was no answer. She tried calling Jess's phone, but it went straight to voicemail.

Sarah was starting to panic. She knew something wasn't right.

She decided to go inside, using a spare key that Jess had given her years ago. As she stepped into the dark apartment, she heard a faint whispering sound coming from Jess's bedroom.

Heart racing, Sarah cautiously made her way to the bedroom door. She pushed it open, and found herself face to face with the same shadowy figure that Jess had described.

The figure was tall and slender, with no discernible features. It seemed to be hovering just above the floor, and Sarah could feel a cold chill emanating from it.

Without thinking, Sarah reached for the light switch, but her hand went right through the figure. She stumbled backwards, her heart racing.

Suddenly, the figure vanished, leaving Sarah standing alone in the dark room.

For a moment, Sarah couldn't move. She felt paralyzed by fear.

But then she heard a faint moaning sound coming from the closet. She cautiously made her way over, and pushed the door open.

Inside, she found Jess, unconscious and barely breathing.

Sarah immediately called 911, and stayed with Jess until the ambulance arrived.

At the hospital, the doctors told Sarah that Jess had been poisoned, and that if Sarah hadn't found her in time, she might not have survived.
