Chapter One

Dr Styles Office

Where is this clinic!? I hate driving in the dark! My anxiety always kicks in when I’m driving but at night forget about it. I know I should take something but try explaining that to my husband.

Oh my God, I passed my turn again. Why is it when you really need your phone to work something with the service always goes wrong. Jenny stares at her phone to see if it’s working yet. Nothing, no calls will go out, no calls can come in, the internet isn’t working either. Just perfect ! Sighs Jenny.

Screetchhh the sound the tires make as Jenny makes a sharp turn kissing the curb with her rims. “I’m going to park here and try and ask for directions.” She pulls into a parking lot, parks and gets her kids out. They find a bench in front of building, “ let’s sit here while I try to figure out where we are” Jenny tells her children. You’d think Jenny was from out of town. The way she drives and how lost she seems. She’s not she lives out in the country about 45 minutes away; she doesn’t get out much.

As they sit Jenny’s left arm starts to ache , numbness trickles down. The feeling of corkscrews twisting in her brain hits her suddenly. She notices an elderly man staring at her and he asks her “ does your arm go numb a lot too?” She replies back “ mmhmm.” Then she gets up grabs her kid’s garbage throws it in a near by trash. As she does this she notices a door ; Rooms 100-109 (Dr Styles Office).

“Hey look the office is right here! Grab your stuff and let’s go before we’re late” Jenny tells her 5 children. That was lucky , it’s like we were not supposed to miss this appointment. As they walk into the clinic something automatically feels off. She just brushes it off. She never wanted to connect with her feelings after the last time anymore. Jenny had always had a strong intuition, but sometimes she just doesn’t listen to it.

For a children’s clinic this looks really ominous, maybe they’re just fixing it up. Okay I see some good signs here. People look happy and I see they have added a kitchen and cafeteria . “ And here is a closet you can come and get perishable items to eat if you’re staying awhile, it is free.” Shouts a strange looking nurse in Jenny’s peripheral view.

Jenny sees a lot of children, not many adults. It is a children’s clinic and it looks like they are turning it into a Hospital. Still Jenny finds it strange and she just wants to get this visit over with already. There are hand painted animals everywhere, dimmed lights, not many seats available, and everyone has a smile on their face. It kinda creeps her out. Like some scene from a horror film.

Jenny is always good at keeping her kids close by. She knows the world is a crazy place. It’s been drilled into her a billions of times. Today though she has just been feeling off. She wasn’t feeling sick prior to today.

She’s usually a sensitive person, but she ignores everything she feels. She feels it’s best that way. “ Well here we are” as she’s talking to her children she turns to them with one little hand gripping to hers. She smiles down at her daughter, but that smile turns blank as she notices nothing else. Her other three children were not there. She has the two youngest holding each other’s hands and hers, but the older children are always well behaved and walk behind them or in front. Jenny was such in a hurry for this appointment she didn’t do her usual back checks. Jenny’s heart sank. Her head started spinning, her anxiety was creeping in on her.

Calm down , three grown kids can’t just disappear in a clinic without a sound. My kids are smart I know they would have made noises. They must not be far behind. Jenny tries her best to rationalize , to calm her nerves. She will tell herself anything right now bc she has seen to many movies that she couldn’t believe anything like that could happen to her children or her.

Jenny gave them a minute to catch up. But she didn’t see them walk in those doors. Her gut started churning and that bad feeling started hitting her again. She looked around and found a safe place for the little two. They were alone.

They had been in an empty room. The room their appointment was scheduled to be in was dark and stuffy. Like if they were not expecting anyone for awhile. Jenny did not want to bring them thinking well she really wasn’t thinking right now.

“ You two stay together please and don’t go with anyone, do not follow me. I will be back for you I promise. I need to go get the kids.” “ Take this and if anyone tries to hurt you , you hurt them and run and look for help outside, you can not trust anybody in here!”

Jenny hands her kids a butan she carries in her purse. Her daughter Stephany is 9 a very responsible 9 year old, she takes the butan from her mother and holds it tight to her chest and wraps her arm around her brother Ryan who is 8. “ Be brave I love you” Jenny whispers as she takes off into the doors that swallowed her children.

Stephany and Ryan sat together quietly. They have seen so many scary movies they felt prepared for this. They have teenage siblings who love horror movies. They see a bright yellow light hovering, but see nothing else. They don’t feel scared, but a sensation of safety.

As Jenny storms the halls going from room to room , she tries not to attract any attention to herself. Last door, she opens it. She is taken outside. How long have we been in here? The sun is already up. In the corner is a very pal lady sitting on a chair with a green dress. Very short snow white hair.

There has to be around 20 people hovering around her as if she is their master. “ Your children , we thank you. They’re being used as sacrifice. “ she yells devilishly as she stands up. Jenny’s face turns pale and follows her eyes.

She sees heads poking out the dirt from under a building. She runs the fastest she has ever ran in her life! The white haired lady doesn’t say anything else but smiles and watches. As her clan circles around her they seem to be discussing something. Jenny digs her son out. With relief she witnesses he is unharmed and still very active.

She sees her other two daughters buried next to him she digs the next daughter out. Her middle daughter; seems so tired. She gets her out and checks her she can barely keep her poor eyes open. Jenny tries to hold her tears in. What place is this!? We need to get out of here as soon as possible!

Jenny gets to her eldest daughter who is passed out. She can’t wake her. She digs her out. She checks her for injuries. She find nothing, she still has a pulse , she silently whimpers with relief. She finds a note in her hands.

I’m sorry mommy , I tried to get us away. I love you , I will always love you. ❤️ love Roxanne .

Tears roll down Jenny’s face. So many emotions are rushing through her. She may not know what is happening or why but there is no time to waste. She is filled with so much adrenaline right now . I am not going to let my babies down, we are going to get out of here. I can see they want a fight and this is not a real clinic. This must be some cult that kidnaps kids or something. What ever this place is they are not taking mine!

“ Bobby you can run fast I’m going to need you to pay attention to me very closely and do what I tell you okay buddy.” Bobby is 16 , they were there bc his doctor had referred him to see a specialist for his disability. “ Baby I have Steph and Ryan alone in a room waiting for us we need to go get them.

We are going to need to run , I’m going to need you to run. Your sister can’t so I am going to need to carry her. I need your guys help” Jenny looks around and finds a clarinet box she hands it to her daughter. “ Use this to hit anyone.” “ I’m tired mommy I can’t run “ Ana whines. Her little tired eyes with her big wet eye lashes looking up at her mother. Her beautiful long curly black hair all tangled and dirty.

“I’m sorry I know baby but we have to when I say” she turns to Roxanne grabs her hands kisses them then whispers “ It’s not your fault , I love you it will be all okay I promise.”, picks her up, looks at the clan then back at her children “ Stay in front of me at all times find Steph and Ryan and hide together. We need to run through two doors pass the cafeteria, then go through three more doors. Room 105” Then with pain in her chest they all get up and the words “ RUN” slip through her tongue like a mad woman.
