Salina is more than just a normal girl going to a normal school. She is a magical kind of special. Although she didn't have any friends and life had its ups and downs for someone of her stature, she always has had magic her blood. She didn't have a lot of money nor a family that was active in her life due to her being adopted into a large family which was similar to the orphanage her real mother left her at as a baby. This girl is magic. She was told nothing about her real family and that mystery kept her pondering and in hope of one day finding a home she could be loved and appreciated at instead of hiding the true gift that she is.Salina was more different than anyone around and she never told another person about her special gift. Until. One. Night.

Salina was in math class jotting notes down from the teachers open book lecture when she noticed a beautiful black raven setting on the seal of the classroom window. Looking at the bird, she felt the strangest connection as if it had a message to deliver to her in an urgent fashion. Salina hoped that no one else would see it and tried to not look. Regardless of her secretive efforts, Salinas teacher Mrs. Jaydis was overly superstitious of all types of things and quickly pulled the shades to escape being seen by the bird. Salina and the class howled at this action, but Mrs. Jaydis redirected them towards more homework and extra notes. Salina wanted to leave the class and go to see the bird immediately! Instead she waited patiently for the school bell to ring and prevent causing a ruckus. She ran outside to find the dark bird as soon as she heard the school bell. Salina felt like she had awaited this moment forever and was gleaming with excitement as she tried to conceal herself with sunglasses and a hoodie.

She arrived outside the classroom window where she hoped to find her raven but sulked in disappointment when she didn't find the mysterious bird or anything significant to aid her quest. Salina kicked at a rock then she turned to go to her hiding spot, the only place she could be herself and practice what she kept secret from the world.

Salina walked to a thicket in the woods that was heavy with thick brush and moss covered trees that added a certain mystery to her sanctuary. She became startled when she heard rustling in the branches above. She looked up to see what could have caused the commotion but dismissed it after a moment of curiosity and nothing in sight. Salina looked at the tree and started to think about all the amazing things she knew and the stories in her books that she loved to read..This made her feel like she was a super hero and all the stories was talking about her and her gifts! She smiled with strength and her eyes lit up with magnificent power and shined so brightly that she felt the warmth all around her body and happiness coursing in her veins! This is Salinas secret. She was just clueless as to what her secret gift was for or how to use it? She always felt it had to be something more to it and that she just needed to practice like all the other super heroes did. So she often found comfort in hiding in the woods and trying to focus on getting her gift to do something else other than just light up.

Salina had tried everything but she felt hopeless each day she tried something new to develop the most powerful magic she could feel. Today however, she truly believed that the raven had came specifically for her and would give her some type of clue as to who or what she was. She longed for answers, she dreamed of finding a place to be herself, she believed that it would all make since once she found what she had been looking for her whole life. Maybe the raven will come for me again she thought, and take me away from here to find my destiny and be a super hero that saves the world and flies! Or maybe it was just imagined and it was just a crow waiting to eat the teacher. She started to feel sad and selfish about thinking it would only be for her when it could be anybodies bird.

Salina had started to cry from her sorrow and frustration as she usually ended up doing when she tried so terribly hard with no success. Just as her own tears fell, the rain started pouring on her face, mixing into hers like it was trying to comfort her for being so different. Salinas eye lights faded to nothing and returned to her normal color of blue green as she looked up at the clouds thick with grey. She started her bike ride home in the rain feeling defeated another day; but keeping hope that something good would happen soon.

Along her path she had to ride pass the cemetery and that always frightened her so much that her eyes would try to light up if she didn't keep calm; especially when they had the watch dogs lurking to scare away trespassers. They barked and chased after her every time, so she learned to pedal fast and with a head start to escape from being bit.

Salina gathered speed and coasted until she heard the first howling barks from the guard dogs that loved to chase and scare her when she passed through to go home. Then she would pedal faster and faster as they nipped at her wheels and galloped along side of her. She was almost in the clear just as one of the dogs was swooped down upon and lifted into the air causing Salinas bike to collide into the other dog. Both of them crashed onto the ground rolling in an a jumbled up tumble before being stopped by impact on the gate of the cemetery. Salina was almost knocked unconscious but she managed to roll over to an angry watch dog growling at her with only a bent and broken bike separating the two of them. She tried to speak kindly and comfort the animal but was interrupted by the dog being grabbed by a winged 9 legged lizard that appeared to have 3 talons dripping acid as it took off into the atmosphere. Salina could no longer hear the dog crying and felt sadness mixed with fear as she looked to find the beast that had both saved her and hurt her. She decided to try and stay calm even tho thoughts raced in her mind and she began to be so afraid that her eyes lit up and she started to run. Not thinking, Salina ran into the graveyard and looked for a place to hide. Her eyes lit like a super moon and a flaming sun together, she found a statue and hid near the base as she closed her eyes and tried to calm herself from the terror. Salina couldn't help but to feel sorry for herself. In fact, she could only imagine how bad she would feel for another girl like her. She was all alone, she never had the joy of true friendship or love, no real family, no home that belonged to her nor her to it. All she could think about was how she was a failure at everything she tried and how unfair life was to her and she might as well be eaten alive to end her suffering. Just as her eye lights began to fade with the tear that dripped with a blink of her lids; Salina noticed heavy foot steps moving towards her with a giant pause between the stepping. Her adrenaline rose up with each ginormous thud and so did her eye lights. She hoped the beast didn't see her and tried to think of a plan as she was forcing her eyes back shut in hopes it would buy her more time to think of what to do. Salina waited in anticipation as the last foot step was heard before a loud swoop that was so close to Saline, it blew her hair back in the direction she stood up to run towards. She didn't scream in fear but groaned in agony when the beast took its sharp talons and two of the 9 legs to grab Salina around the ribs and bolt upwards in the air. Salinas eyes that once gleamed with the brightest most powerful mysterious light faded into darkness. The horrible pain she felt in her sides was ever present as her last bit of consciousness forced it to release her into a deep slumber.
