The forest of the damned
Im not going to tell you how i got here. Frankly, i dont remember. I remember my name, John Cramer. I remember my age, date of birth, but i cant recall how i ended up in this unknown forest filled with underbrush and dead foliage. I can tell you its dark, almost too dark to see. I can hear for miles it seems. i leaned my back against a thick tree. the ground was slightly damp from rain water settling on the foliage, making sure to move silently.

Sleepwalkers
I am incredibly uncomfortable. I don’t know why I thought today of all days was the one to bring my gym bag as well as my backpack to class, especially knowing it was going to rain. I stumbled into the classroom, late as usual, and didn’t look a single person in the eye. Furthest row to the left, six seats back. I set down my backpack, gym bag, overcoat, sweatshirt, gloves, hat, and scarf on the desk behind me — no one ever sat there. Not sure if it’s because of me, or because it’s such an isolated part of the room, and I don’t really care to know either.

If I Can
Did you know that there are ways to induce ghost sightings? I read about it in one of the articles I looked up. I know all about it. Strong electromagnetic fields can trigger them, as can a sound frequency of about 18.98 Hz. Ghost hunters say these attract ghosts, while scientists say they may only trigger hallucinations. You can’t believe that. Scientists are pretty terrible people, and liars to boot. They’ll tell you they have all the answers. Oh, they’ll tell you whatever they think you’ll believe, so long as it’s all you believe.

The Puppet In The Cage
I sat idling in the car for a few minutes outside the church, staring at it. It didn’t look special. It was a very plain looking church, bright white, average-sized steeple, sitting to the side of a town common. A shitty looking italian eatery lay about fifty yards to my rear. PIZZA, PASTA & SUBS. The place seemed busy, and why not? In a town like this, no one would know what real italian tastes like. This was the sort of town where a Chili’s would elevate the culture considerably.

Real Estate
I was meeting my wife at the house. It was the perfect one, at least what we saw of it online. It was older, and it had all of the character that we’d been looking for. The last three houses we’d seen were in cookie cutter, new construction subdivisions, and neither of us felt great about the options. Though, I did like the amount of room the modern houses left for a new television.

We Win
Ed Barlou, 60 and cantankerous in a red flannel shirt, was brought to the cathedral. He was bound at the wrists and shuffling, pulled at either elbow by vampires dressed in deacons’ cassocks. He’d been beaten pretty badly, but he’d suffered worse in his bar days in the seventies. He spat a tooth onto the carpet runner.
