The Best Short Story Ever Written
If I could write one thing, just one good thing, that would be enough for me. As I board the city bus, I can’t shake the dread in my stomach. Skipping class isn’t an option. I couldn’t let the student loans go to waste. This is what I wanted, right?

Maze
“Oh, we have to stop!” exclaimed Suzanne, pummeling Greg’s shoulder with both fists. She was looking at the hand-painted sign beside the two-lane road that read “Matthew’s ‘Mazing Maze of Maize” in large red letters. Below that, “Largest Corn Maze in the South! Games! Prizes!” Off to the side was a rudimentarily-rendered row of corn plants with question marks floating over it.

Evil One
Before his face was horribly scarred, Kyle had just been a run-of-the-mill juvenile delinquent. As a bored teenage boy in an affluent Colorado town, the son of a prominent minister and a beloved school teacher, Kyle was a terror. Stealing grocery money from his mother’s purse. Drinking his father’s liquor cabinet dry. Sneaking out of his bedroom window at night to break into cars. One night, he crossed the line. On his sixteenth birthday, Kyle managed to steal a car, speed across town, run a red light and crash into a woman driving home from work. Fortunately, the woman wasn’t hurt but Kyle was severely burned and ended up with a face and body resembling that of an old box turtle. At first, the minister and his wife hoped their son had learned his lesson. But even with the pain and his ghoulish face, Kyle just laughed and insulted the people who visited him in the hospital. His physical transformation into a monster seemed to have no effect on the boy’s nasty personality. In fact, he became more bitter, angry and resentful. So after months of putting up with the impossible young man, his parents finally kicked him out of the house. The town librarian noted Kyle reminded her of a picture of the Japanese reptile demon Kappa she saw in a book. From then on, everyone called him Kappa.

Winchester: Apparitions
As I have mentioned before about the house on Winchester, it had a luscious garden. It was a massive backyard that was willed with such an array of different shades of green. Every type of green you could ever imagine! There was so much grass. A cacti garden with a little wooden arch way to walk through as if you were entering an enchanted garden. Large trees that shaded the yard. A giant wooden house with a slide, swings, monkey bars and a sand pit for the children to play in. A large porch with potted plants and so much space to draw with sidewalk chalk.

Winchester: Can I sleep with you Mommy?
Our life with Tommy was proving to be a way of life now. We were all used to the noises, knocks, and sound of another child in the house. The dog was still alert to every little happening, and it would still catch my attention, but I knew what it was and it never alarmed me. The night was still an active time in the home. After everyone was getting ready for rest and to go to sleep. Relatively calm, but still active. My husband had to go out to do some training on San Clemente Island and was going to be gone a few weeks. Everything became highly active in the home immediately after he left and continued the entire time I always felt like Tommy was more comfortable when he was not there.

The Lady in White
When I was growing up, I lived in a haunted house. What's interesting is that I didn't realize it was haunted at the time. I had no idea that what I was seeing other people couldn't see. To me, it was perfectly natural. I still remember sitting by my window and watching people go by. In my home, however, that was a different story. I knew that they didn't belong. I suppose, in a way, that is how they felt about us. We didn't belong. There was this one spirit (a woman) that stands out in my mind the most. I will refer to her as the lady in white.

Clones
I have a confession to make. I killed two people. To explain what happened I have to go back to the beginning of summer. I was outside mowing the grass. Living next to the woods I know there are all sorts of insects I have to watch out for. Well, one of those little suckers got the best of me and bit me on my lower back, close to my spine.
