Book Of Predictions

The Fear Of Knowing

A mysterious book!

What if you could predict the future with the utmost accuracy, not a mere guess or estimate of how the world will end, but a genuine matter of fact answer to all of life's mysteries. This knowledge could be used for both good and evil, or perhaps greed; knowing where to find hidden treasure before anyone can discover it (metaphorically speaking). There have been many tales, of crooks using time machines to put themselves in power, changing the past so that they can be rich and powerful in the future. It is a tale seen in many sci fi movies and comics alike. Many claim these are tall tales, fun fictional stories of "what if" adventures. Yet, there is rumour of an item out there, something ancient and ultimately mysterious, a single book that can predict the future before it even happens. It is written in Egyptian and was found deep beneath the great pyramids, the cover is of a beige grotesque and waxy texture, which many believe could be human skin. Yet the jury is still out on that one, for it seems thicker like leather, but that could be due to its magnificent age. Nobody can truly determine the true origins of the book, only that it may have been used by rulers at the time to raise to power, as the book reveals things that are still yet to happen. So it is believed pharaohs took full advantage of this knowledge to become powerful and almighty. Yet it is also believed many who read this book, were sometimes driven to madness.

There was once a devotee Christian, named Jerry Parkes, who stumbled across the book, during the early 1970s. He read about the many disasters that were predicted to follow, and believed the book had come to him by the will of God, as an attempt to find a new saviour. Jerry did not claim to be the second coming, he simply believed it was his duty to carry out this mission to prevent future disaster. So he tried his best to rescue people moments before disaster, to stop doomed flights from flying and protested against cruel world leaders who would one day begin wars, or make life harder for everyone. His efforts were in vain, many saw Jerry as a doomsday Cultist, a god fearing man who had lost his mind. They were partly right, in time this knowledge drove the Christian insane, he could only watch in horror as the predictions came true and some even blamed him for a few of these disasters, as he was always on the scene moments before mayhem. Nobody knows what became of Jerry in the end, he simply vanished from existence. He may have been murdered and robbed of the book, or perhaps the insanity drove him into an asylum. Maybe he ended his own life, as the knowledge held too much weight for him to bear. Whatever the case, the book too was lost with him.

Wherever this book is now, that is a complete mystery. Conspiracy theorists believe the book is currently under the possession of the world's leaders. Back where it truly belongs, just like it was with the Egyptian pharaohs of ancient times, where only the most powerful and rich have the resources to properly benefit from the book's predictions. It could be used for presidential elections or to gain power over one nation, by manipulating the events described into working for one party's favour. If this is true, every vote you've made in politics could be pointless, that there aren't actually competing governments at war with each other, but instead plans being followed out accordingly as to hide the world's true evil. It is a terrifying thought, that every crisis and disaster was at some point orchestrated within a mysterious book found beneath Egypt. The scariest question of all is; who wrote it?
