The Cursed Bhangarh Fort

A few hundred years ago, Bhangarh was a beautiful and renowned city. One of the nine gems of Emperor Akbar's court, it was built by Madho Singh for his son. Bhangarh was considered a prosperous city back then, and it was home to thousands of people within its walls. However, after 400 years, today the fort stands in ruins.

There are different stories behind the destruction of Bhangarh fort, but one story stands out as the most probable cause of its decline. So, without further ado, let me share with you the true story that turned this prosperous fortress into a haunted ruin.

When Madho Singh completed the construction of the fort, he and his entire village moved in. The villagers held the king's words in high regard, and there was love and respect for him and his family from every person. Among the family of King Madho Singh was Princess Ratnavati, who had always been known for her beauty and charm throughout Rajasthan. When she turned 18, marriage proposals started coming from different kingdoms. Among these proposals was one from a renowned tantric named Singhia, who was deeply in love with Princess Ratnavati and was willing to go to any extent to win her.

However, Singhia knew that he could never win her heart through conventional means. So, he used his tantric knowledge to cast a spell on a hair oil that the princess used. His plan was that when Ratnavati applied the oil to her hair, she would come under his control, and he could then confess his love.

Every day, Singhia would visit the marketplace near the fort, waiting for the right moment. One day, he noticed that one of the maids of the princess was buying oil for her hair. At that moment, Singhia cast a dark spell on the oil, intending to control her. When the maid handed the oil to Ratnavati, she became suspicious because the oil's color had changed due to the spell. Ratnavati, who also had knowledge of magic, recognized Singhia's treacherous intentions. She smashed the oil bottle on a nearby stone, and the oil spilled all over it.

The magic spell backfired, and the stone slid toward Singhia, severely injuring him. In his final moments, Singhia placed a curse on Bhangarh, saying, "Bhangarh will never prosper, and all who live here will die one by one!" With his last breath, he passed away.

The following year, in a terrible war between Ajabgarh and Bhangarh, Queen Ratnavati lost her life, strengthening the power of Singhia's curse. Singhia's curse had unleashed a malevolent spirit upon Bhangarh, and it still haunts the place. After sunset, the fort gates are locked, and entering the fort at night is strictly prohibited. People believe that anyone who enters the fort after sunset never returns. Local residents say that at night, women's screams can be heard, the sound of bangles breaking echoes, strange music is heard, and a mysterious fragrance wafts through the area.

The Mysterious Fort

Storytellers and scientists may dismiss these accounts as mere folklore, but the people who live there cannot deny what they have witnessed. They believe that one day Singhia's curse will be broken, and Queen Ratnavati will return in a different form to free Bhangarh from its curse. The mystery of Bhangarh Fort endures—an enchanting tale of love, black magic, and a centuries-old curse. Ghost hunters and researchers are still trying to uncover the secrets, but the fort seems determined to keep them hidden.

I hope you enjoyed this story, and by now, you have learned about the mysterious forces that may have led to the downfall of this once-prosperous fortress and the strange occurrences that happen within its walls.

Thank you.
