Bhangarh Fort

This is a thrilling journey to one of India's most haunted places, the Bhangarh Fort. Get ready to be spooked!

Now, before we dive into the eerie tales surrounding this fort, let me give you a little background. Bhangarh Fort is located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, India. It was built in the 17th century by Raja Bhagwant Das and is known for its magnificent architecture and scenic beauty.

Legend has it that a curse was placed on Bhangarh Fort by a magician who fell in love with the princess of the fort, Princess Ratnavati. The magician tried to use a love potion on her, but she discovered his plan and threw the potion onto a boulder. As the boulder rolled towards the magician, he was crushed to death, but before dying, he cursed the entire fort.

The Fort

Now, let's talk about the spooky experiences people have had at Bhangarh Fort. Visitors have reported strange happenings like hearing footsteps, whispers, and eerie sounds echoing throughout the fort. Some have even claimed to witness apparitions of soldiers and princesses wandering around.

One popular legend revolves around a curse placed on the fort by a tantric (a practitioner of black magic) named Singhiya. According to the story, Singhiya fell in love with the princess of Bhangarh, Ratnavati. He tried to use his black magic to make her fall in love with him but failed. In his frustration, Singhiya cursed the fort, saying that all its inhabitants would perish and the entire area would remain desolate. It is believed that this curse led to the decline and eventual abandonment of the fort.

Another legend suggests that a sadhu (holy man) once lived near the fort, and he warned the villagers that the fort's shadow should never touch his dwelling. However, a descendant of the king raised the fort walls higher, causing the fort's shadow to encroach upon the sadhu's residence. As a result, it is said that the entire village was doomed and the fort became haunted.

The Fort

While these legends add to the mystery and allure of Bhangarh Fort, there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of ghosts or supernatural occurrences there. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which maintains the fort, has put up a notice disallowing entry to the fort premises after sunset, citing safety reasons. This is likely due to the dilapidated condition of the fort and the potential dangers associated with exploring it in the dark. One of the most famous stories is about a group o

f friends who decided to spend a night inside the fort. They were warned by locals not to enter after sunset, but they ignored the warnings. As night fell, they experienced inexplicable phenomena – doors slamming shut on their own, strange lights flickering in the darkness, and even feeling as if they were being watched by unseen eyes.

The Paranormal Society of India conducted investigations at Bhangarh Fort and captured some spine-chilling evidence. They recorded EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena) where ghostly voices were heard answering their questions. They also captured photographs with unexplained orbs and ghostly apparitions.

Despite its haunted reputation, Bhangarh Fort is a popular tourist destination. People from all over the world visit to experience the thrill and mystery surrounding this place. However, the Archaeological Survey of India has prohibited entry to the fort after sunset to ensure the safety of visitors.

So, if you're ever in Rajasthan, make sure to visit Bhangarh Fort during the day and witness its stunning architecture. But be warned, once the sun sets, it's best to stay away unless you're prepared to encounter the supernatural!
