Ukraine demands US make clear statement to clear obstacles for offensive

As expected, after about half a month of fierce fighting, the momentum of the Russian army's massive offensive in Kharkov has gradually been brought under control.

Because of the failure to make a breakthrough, the Russian side now claims that the purpose of the offensive is not to capture Kharkov, but to create a so-called "buffer zone" - a term that has been used so many times that it is difficult to accurately understand its meaning.

This offensive is likely to be the last large-scale offensive of the Russian army on Ukrainian territory. In the future, they may never have such capabilities and opportunities again.

With the continuous shipment of Western-aided weapons and equipment to the Ukrainian front, and the F-16 may appear on the battlefield next month, the next situation will be Ukraine attacking and Russia defending. The time is around the turn of summer and autumn, in August or September, or perhaps even earlier.

Now, what Ukraine needs most is the clear attitude of the Biden administration - allowing Ukraine to use US-aided weapons to attack military targets in Russia.

As early as 2 or 3 months ago, the Ukrainian side accurately predicted that the Russian army would launch an offensive in the direction of Kharkov in mid-May.

However, they watched the Russian army gather troops, stockpile ammunition, and deploy attacks in places such as Belkorod, but they could not destroy them with American weapons. They could only use drones with less lethality and easy to intercept to destroy them. The effect was not comparable to that of American missiles, and they ultimately failed to stop the Russian attack.

When the Ukrainian army attacked, if it could not strike targets in Russia, mainly logistical supplies, it would bring great pressure to the battlefield.

Therefore, Ukraine urgently needs the permission of the United States to use its weapons to attack targets in Russia. According to media reports, as early as March, Ukraine arranged a team to lobby the Biden administration in the United States, hoping to obtain authorization.

Earlier, when Blinken visited Kiev, the Ukrainian side once again made this request to him.

But the Biden administration has not yet lifted the ban.

On May 22, Blinken repeated what he said in Kiev when answering media questions on this issue: The United States does not approve of Ukraine using American weapons assisted by the United States to attack targets in Russia, but Ukrainians must make their own decisions.

It is generally believed that this is equivalent to acquiescing to Ukraine's demands. But the actual situation behind the scenes may not be that simple, otherwise Ukraine would not have sent a special team to lobby.

In recent days, related issues have become a focus of international attention.

Yesterday, House Speaker Johnson publicly expressed dissatisfaction with Biden's move. He walked in Congress and answered reporters' questions, saying that the United States needs to "allow Ukraine to wage war in the way they see fit." The U.S. government is so strange - it has always been the Republicans who blocked military aid to Ukraine in the past. Once the bill was passed, it was the Republicans who accused Biden of taking too small steps to aid Ukraine, not rolling up his sleeves and throwing his arms, so that the Russians took advantage of the loopholes.

As a Ukrainian official said: When Russia realized that we had no right to use HIMARS rockets in its territory, they gathered all their equipment in the border area and used it to destroy the Kharkiv region. We can't hit them at all because the United States prohibits Ukraine from using American weapons in Russia.

These two people are fighting, one is unrestrained, and the other is tied with various ropes around him - how to fight this?

So, this problem must be solved before the Ukrainian army can launch an attack.

Although the United States has not yet given in, there are signs that as the level of attention increases and more and more people participate in the discussion, it is estimated that Biden will eventually lift the ban.

A few days ago, Pentagon spokesman General Ryder said: The Department of Defense will continue to dialogue with Ukraine and its allies and partners on this issue.

McCaul, chairman of the Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee, accused Blinken of saying that the weapons provided by the United States to Ukraine cannot attack targets in Russia, which makes Ukraine passive! He also bluntly pointed the finger at Sullivan, saying that it was Sullivan who persuaded Biden not to allow Ukraine to use American weapons to attack Russian targets.

More than a month ago, I said in an article that "there are unconfirmed reports" that the arms ban on Ukraine is the view of White House security adviser Sullivan.

Now, this news has been confirmed by McCaul.

Perhaps Sullivan is a more left-leaning politician.

Perhaps his duty is to only consider "security" issues.

In fact, when he visited Israel not long ago, he also severely criticized Israel's attack on Rafah. This time, Ukraine has summed up its experience and is determined to launch an offensive after all problems are resolved.

In everything, preparation is for success, and failure is for failure.

This is especially true for war!

The Russians are of course very clear about this prospect.

A few days ago, the Russians started the first phase of tactical nuclear weapons exercises in the Ukrainian border area, practicing equipping the "Iskander" tactical missile system and the "Dagger" hypersonic missile with special warheads and flying into designated areas. Peskov said that the purpose of the tactical nuclear weapons exercise is to "calm down some hot heads in the West."

In fact, this is also a threat to the United States not to allow Ukraine to attack targets within its territory, while threatening the Ukrainian army's attack in the near future.

I have said in the article that if they don't talk about nuclear bombs, it means that they are not too uncomfortable on the battlefield.

When they start to talk about it endlessly and even show off nuclear bombs, it means that they have realized the fate of failure.

But don't worry, they won't use it.

As the saying goes, the one who barks doesn't bite!
