Family of Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi:


Sultan was born in 532 AH in the fort of Tikrit, Iraq, whose father was Najamuddin Ayub bin Shazi. Sultan's grandfather's name was Shazi bin Marwan, a farmer from the town of Duin in Kurdistan. After migrating from there, they came first to Baghdad and then to Tikrit.





Sultan had five brothers

1﴾Shams-ud-Dawla-ul-Mulk-ul-Muzam Turan Shah,

2﴾ Shahin Shah,

3﴾ Al-Malik al-Adil Abu Bakr,

4﴾ Saifuddin Taghatgin,

5﴾ Taj Al-Muluk Buri



At the time of Sultan's death, only Mulk-ul-Adil and Saifuddin were alive



There were two sisters

1﴾ Sat al-Sham

2) Rabia Khatun



Sat al-Sham bint Ayyub became famous in history due to charity, establishment of religious schools and charity works. His great achievement is the establishment of two grand Madrasahs of Shufa in Damascus. Sultan's nephew and salar Hussamuddin Muhammad bin Lajin was his son. Sat al-Sham died in 616 AH. Rabi'a Khatun also became famous for the publication of knowledge of religion and the establishment of madrasahs. He died in 643 AH.



"The elder brother Turan Shah went to Yemen as Sultan's deputy and returned as a part of the Ayyubid Empire. He was governor of Syria for a while and then died. Among the younger brothers, Abu Bakr al-Mulk al-Adil Sultan was the hand of Sultan. Being always together. Turan Shah and the Emperor were older than the Sultan, both died during the Sultan's lifetime. Apart from him, all other siblings were younger than Sultan. Among them, Taj Al-Mulk Buri was a writer and poet who died of wounds on the occasion of the conquest of Aleppo in 579 AH.

Sultan had twenty sons and one daughter. Whose names are these:



1- Mulk Al-Fazl Nooruddin, born on 1st Shawwal year 565 AH, Egypt



2- Mulk Al-Aziz Uthman, born on 8 Jumadi al-Awli 567 AH, Egypt



3- Al-Malik al-Zafar Muzaffar al-Din, born on 5 Shaban 568 AH, Egypt



4- Al-Mulk al-Thafir Ghazi, born on 15 Ramadan 568 AH, Egypt



-5- Ishaq Fathuddin was born in Rabi al-Awwal 570 AH Egypt



6-Al-Malik al-Muayyed Masoud, born in Rabi al-Awwal 571 AH, Damascus



7- Izz al-Din Yaqoob was born in Rabi al-Thani 572 AH Egypt



8-Al-Mulk Al-Zahir Dawood, born Dhul-Qa'da 573 AH, Egypt



9-Al-Mulk al-Mufad al-Qutb al-Din, born in 575 AH



10- Malik Al-Ashraf Muhammad was born in Rabi al-Awwal 577 AH Syria



11- Mulk Ahsan Ahmad born in 577 Egypt



12- Al-Malik al-Ma'zam Mansoor, born in Rabi al-Awwal, Egypt



13- Al-Malik al-Jawad Rukn al-Din was born on Rabi al-Awwal 578 AH in Egypt



14- Malik Ghalib Malik Shah was born in Rajab 578 Syria



15- Mulk al-Mansur Abu Bakr was born in Harran



16- Imaduddin Shazi, son of Umm Wold. Born in Egypt



17- Naseeruddin Marwan, son of Umm Wold. Born in Egypt



-18- Al-Malik al-Nasur Hasan (died during Sultan's lifetime)



19- Ameer Ahmad (died during Sultan's lifetime)



20- Apart from him, a son Ismail is also mentioned (died during the lifetime of Sultan).



21- Monsa woman born in Egypt.



🔷 Wives 🔷

Spouses - The Sultan had many marriages. Most of his wives are remembered by surname, the following wives are mentioned in history:



1- Umm al-Mulk al-Afzal

She was the mother of Al-Afzal, Al-Nazar, Al-Muzaffar, Al-Mafdal



2- Umm al-Malik al-Aziz

She was the mother of Al-Aziz, Al-Muayyed, Izzad-Din



3- Umm al-Mulk al-Zahir:

She was the mother of Al-Zahir and Al-Zahir



4- Umm al-Mulk al-Ashraf

She was the mother of Al-Ashraf and Mohsin



5- Umm al-Mulk al-Ma'zam

She was the mother of Al-Azam and Al-Mansoor



6- Ismatuddin bint Ameer Moinuddin Inz

The death of Sultan took place in 581 AH. "



Note - In the Sultan's family four persons have passed with the title of Mulk-ul-Ma'zam

1- Sultan's elder brother, Mulk al-Ma'zam Turan Shah, who was Sultan Ayubi's deputy in Damascus and Yemen.



2- Sultan's youngest son, Mulk-ul-Mozam Turan Shah, who was a good scholar and commander of Aleppo after the Sultan's death.



3- Sultan's nephew Al-Malik al-Muzam Isa (son of al-Malik al-Adil) who became the independent ruler of Damascus twenty-five years after the death of the sultan.

Mulk al-Adil's great-grandson, Mulk al-Ma'zam Turan Shah, who became the ruler of Egypt during the Seventh Crusade, about sixty years after the Sultan's death.
