Daniel in the Lions' Den is a well-known biblical story that demonstrates the faith and protection of God. It is found in the Book of Daniel, chapter 6, and here is a retelling of the story in approximately

In the time of King Darius, Daniel, a faithful servant of God, was appointed as one of the administrators over the kingdom. Daniel's wisdom and integrity were evident, and this stirred jealousy and envy among his fellow administrators. They plotted to find a way to bring him down.

Knowing that Daniel was a man of unwavering faith, these administrators devised a plan to exploit his devotion to God. They convinced King Darius to issue a decree that no one should pray to any god or man except the king himself for the next thirty days. Violators of this decree would be thrown into a den of lions.

Despite the threat, Daniel remained faithful to his God. He continued to pray three times a day, just as he had done before. The administrators, eager to catch Daniel in the act, saw him praying to God in his room with the windows open towards Jerusalem.

They hurried to King Darius and reminded him of the decree he had signed. The king, realizing the trap he had fallen into, was distressed. He respected Daniel and did not want to see harm come to him, but the law of the Medes and Persians could not be changed.

Reluctantly, King Darius ordered Daniel to be brought before him. Daniel was aware of the punishment he was about to face, but he did not waver in his faith. He trusted that God would protect him.

As Daniel stood before the king, the administrators accused him of violating the decree. The king, filled with regret, tried to find a way to spare Daniel's life. But the law was absolute, and he had no choice but to have Daniel thrown into the lions' den.

Before Daniel was cast into the den, King Darius spoke words of encouragement and hope to him, saying, "May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you." Then, a large stone was placed over the entrance of the den, and it was sealed with the king's signet ring.

Throughout the night, King Darius could not sleep. His mind was troubled, and he anxiously waited for morning to come. At daybreak, the king rushed to the den and called out to Daniel, fearing the worst.

To his amazement, Daniel's voice echoed from within the den, "O king, live forever! My God sent His angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me because I was found innocent in His sight."

Overjoyed, King Darius commanded that Daniel be lifted out of the den. Not a scratch was found on him, for God had protected him. In response to this miraculous deliverance, the king ordered that those who had conspired against Daniel be thrown into the den of lions, along with their families. The lions overpowered them before they even hit the bottom of the den.

King Darius then issued a decree, acknowledging the power and greatness of Daniel's God. It stated that all people in his kingdom should tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for He is the living God who delivers and rescues His people.

Daniel's unwavering faith and God's miraculous intervention in the lions' den became a testament to the power and faithfulness of the one true God. It serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, when we trust in God and remain faithful to Him, He will deliver and protect us.
