Alien influence, from space, was it good or bad?

Did extra-terrestrial aliens impose structure on humankind?

There are many books that claim aliens came to this planet before recorded history and “guided” humans to build huge structures with a precision that would be hard for modern builders to copy, even with all the tools and machines we have. I have no idea if these theories are valid or not, but I wonder about the motivation of these alien visitors.

It is reasonable to accept the archaeology which suggests early humans were hunter gatherers, nomadic in the sense that they moved with the seasons and the ever-changing climate, to wherever food and shelter were available and most easy to access. The original inhabitants of what we now call North America followed this pattern of life, very successfully for thousands of years. The continuation of their way of life and the absence of “alien directed” large buildings suggest they escaped any alien visitations. What is claimed is that these Alien’s not only brought technologies that were way advanced of humans at that time, but they also caused the start of farming, the formation of static communities, who grew crops provided surplus in food and expanded the population, and thus the villages grew to become cities.

There have been suggestions that the nomadic hunter gatherers probably became so good at what they did, that they had leisure time. That the actual work of hunting and gathering was not full time. It also seems that they did not increase their numbers-the population of humans, beyond what they could provide for. Because they were nomadic, localised droughts were not such a big issue, they simply moved to where there was food and water. So, this alien “gift” of farming, which entailed working 7 days a week, encouraged population growth which in turn demanded ever more farming and ever more rigidity in human lives, begins to look like a strange sort of gift. The transition from nomadic hunter gatherers to settled static “farmers” represents a change from free spirits to controlled and enslaved people.

The transition to more rigid societies also saw the start of “religious” dominance, where a selected few avoided the hard graft of providing food, by claiming they and they alone knew what the “Gods” wanted done. Thus, they were empowered to take the results of other people’s labour, for their own needs. This select few were the only ones with “leisure” time to think, study, create learning and artistic expression. If there were Aliens who came to earth and wanted to demonstrate their technical building expertise, (or may be needed large structures to live in?) they also needed the workforce to remain around the workplace. They did not want to start building and find the workforce had gone away to search for an easier place in which to find food. So farming, the abandonment of a nomadic lifestyle, was not a gift, but an imposition designed to manufacture a constant supply of human labour force. If this theory is valid, it would follow that the alien invaders would create a social structure that allowed them control without having to be in moment to moment contact with the early humans. So, religions were created, the setting up of a social structure with a select few empowered to exercise control and dominance over the many. This structure would also need an ever-increasing supply of workers, so farming had to produce surpluses which were never needed by the nomadic hunter gatherers. If you follow your food supply as it moves through the year, you do not need granaries and stores to see you through until the next harvest. Given the time scales involved it was inevitable that changes in localised climates made these rigid human societies non-viable. Over very long periods, they could not sustain life. The Aliens could, presumably, leave and go back into space where they came from, leaving the humans to their fate. Or maybe they died with their workforce, but that would probably have left some physical evidence.

One further area for thought is the possibility that there was more than one species of alien invaders. The concept of multiple “Gods” is deep in human existence, even the words of Moses can be interpreted as instruction to only worship one God not a claim there is only one God. Archaeology has discovered that several varieties of humanoids existed before the domination by the present human species. It may be that differing alien species took over different humanoid variations and so caused “history” as we know it.
