Here we go again! Here’s this week’s celebrity news roundup:
• Lupita Nyong’o Talks Black Panther
Actress Lupita Nyong’o has revealed some information about the much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 blockbuster that was Black Panther.
In view of the death of the main star of the movie, Chadwick Boseman, who passed away last August, there has been some concerns about how this issue will be navigated in the sequel.
In an interview with Good Morning America, Nyong’o refused to directly answer the question when it was posed as she didn’t want to give any spoilers. However, she had this to say on the situation, “It’s going to be different, of course, without our king (Chadwick Boseman), to go back into that world, but I know that all of us are dedicated to reimagining or carrying on his legacy in this new Black Panther”.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, already confirmed that the lead role of T’challa that Boseman played will not be recast. Nyong’o as well as the other cast have been confirmed as returning for the sequel.
Black Panther 2 is expected to start filming in summer and a tentative release date of July 8, 2022 has been set for its premiere.
• Sofia Vergara Wins Protracted Lawsuit Against Ex-Fiancé
Actress Sofia Vergara has finally won the long-standing lawsuit against her by her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb.
Vergara, most known for her role in Modern Family, had been battling with Loeb since just after their 2014 split when Loeb wanted to use the embryos created Sofia’s eggs after their split. Sofia had disagreed with this and Loeb has since then tried to get a court to allow him to use the fertilised eggs without Vergara’s consent.
Loeb went as far as taking the case to an LA court after it was denied in Louisiana. Hopefully Loeb will move on now since Vergara has done so, having been married to actor Joe Manganiello for more than 5 years now.
• Mariah Carey Sued by Brother
Singer Maria Carey’s estranged brother is suing her. He claims she made false accusations against him in her book, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which was released in 2020.
In the book, Carey writes about how she had to protect herself and her mother from her allegedly violent brother. Carey’s brother Morgan is refuting this claim saying he was not a violent person and that the accounts she gives in her book are false. He is suing her for intentional infliction of emotional distress and defamation.
