The Young and the Restless: Fans are eager to meet the new Summer

Fans of

The Young and the Restless who love Skyle are happy that one half of the duo is already back on the CBS soap. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) returned to Genoa City on Monday with his son Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) in tow. They arrived at the Abbott mansion but no one was home.

Jack Abbott ( Peter Bergman) was at Society telling Nikki Newman ( Melody Thomas Scott) that Kyle’s mother Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) is alive. Spoilers say Kyle will have conflicted emotions where his mother is concerned and he will no doubt be pulled in two directions.

Everyone realizes that he has to make his own decision regarding Diane but there is no one in town who thinks getting to know his mother is a good idea. On the other side of the fence will be Ms. Jenkins who will be trying to convince her son to give her a chance. Spoilers say Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) will return to Genoa City in May and it’s not clear yet what her position will be regarding her mother in law. Summer’s mom Phyllis Newman ( Michelle Stafford) despises Diane and does not like the fact that her daughter will have to deal with this woman

Summer will deal with major adjustments

Summer has had to adjust to a stepson and now a crazy mother in law is in the mix. It’s not clear yet whether or not Lanier will be in a contract role or temporary but if Summer remains in town it means she will be giving up her dream job in Milan after only 6 months. Y&R could be bringing Summer back just to have a blow up with Kyle and return to Europe but they could have had Hunter King break up with him via video chat. This is why it is more likely that Lanier will be a permanent fixture on the show.

Once Skype is reunited Diane might not be their only problem as there could be custody issues down the road once Tara Locke (Elizabeth ) is released from prison. Not everyone who watches The Young nd the Restless is a Skype fan and some of those who were might not adjust to an actress besides King in the role. Hopefully everyone will give the new version of Skype a chance and the writers won’t break them up. The tension between Kyle’s mother and his dad will make things uncomfortable and the anger that Summer’s mom and grandma have towards Diane will make things even more difficult.

The Young and the Restless viewers are paying attention

On social media many Y&R viewers are saying they are taking the wait and see approach wen it comes to a recast Summer. Mealor returning as Kyle gives fans one half of the original team which should work in Lanier’s favor. If Summer gives up her dream job in Milan perhaps she will return to work at Jabot. Some viewers have said they would like to see as much emphasis placed on the Abbott family legacy as there is on the Newman empire.

In recent weeks Y&R has been centralizing on specific characters in each episode instead of having multiple storylines. There have been episodes where the Abbotts have been featured to the delight of fans. Be on the lookout for spoilers to reveal the date of Lanier’s debut as Summer. Stay tuned to The Young and the Restless to find out how Summer gets along with her stepson and whether or not Diane drives a wedge between her and Kyle.
