Soaps She Knows is reporting that The Young and the Restless now has a tentative date of returning to producing new episodes. Fans of the sudser will be elated to know that they are planning on resuming taping after July 4. Sister CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful came off of the hiatus on Wednesday June 17, but shut down again that same day. They were supposed to begin taping once more on Tuesday June 23. B&B took time off to regroup and work on their testing protocol. Y&R is getting things in order so that they can begin working on new episodes on July 6. Viewers should note, that this date is not set in stone, but only a goal that they will attempt to achieve. The powers that be will probably be watching The Bold and the Beautiful closely and learn from their trial and error.

Fans of both CBS shows have already been alerted to many of the changes going forth. If you are not familir with them, here is what must happen from here on out. The cast members must keep hand sanitizer avaialble at all times and practice social distancing. Children and older actors will not be utilized right away on either show. Crew members will pratice social distancing and work from behind plexiglass. There will be less people on the set, shorter work days, and less days to work each week. Brad Bell has said that The Bold and the Beautiful will use long range shooting methods, blow up dolls and the spouces of cast members to fill in for love scenes.

The Young and the Restless has not given any specifics regarding how romance will be filmed in the future, but will probably mirror what is taking place on B&B. Some fans have expressed shock and dismay that blow-up dolls may be used and are hoping that things will not get so bad this is needed. A backlash from all of these changes is that viewers may get caught up in trying to figure out what is going on and not enjoy the show. Y&R had quite a bit going on prior to the hiatus and fans need to be caught up to speed since it has been so long.

Adam had just found out from Victor that he is the one who murdered AJ Malvo, but he was not yet accepting it and looking for an alternative truth. Spoiler alerts had said that Chelsea would be needed to help her once and future husband through a crisis, so it sounds like at some point the prodigal Newman will finally accept what happened when he was a child. Lily and Billy were working together at Chancellor and the chemistry between them was evident, but last week Soap Dirt said that a trusted source indicated that Amanda would end up with Billy. Since actors over age 65 will not be taping right away, then Victor, Dina, and Jack will not be around.

This will delay madame Mergeron's demise from Alzheimer's disease or she might die off screen. The writers could have Jack go away with Dina, and when Peter Bergman is allowed to return to work, they might say his mother died while they were together. There is always the chance that this storyline will play out when everyone can be on screen together. Summer and Kyle were heating things up and Theo and Lola's fates are up in the air. There were rumors that Sasha Calle and Tyler Johnson were being written out of Y&R so fans will be paying close attention to see how all of this is worked out.

Soap Dirt is reporting that big changes are coming and that major couples will break up. Take this with a grain of salt because set insiders don't always give accurate information. Even so, here is what is being predicted. Nikki and Victor will remain a rock soild couple while their children's love lives are in shambles. The leaker teased that Nick could get back with Chelsea, and Rey could leave town because Sharon and Adam reunite. There is supposed to be a new man for Victoria but no details were given. With older actors not able to tape initially, it's likely Victor will not be on screen, but things can always change. Stay tuned for additional updates for the storylines and breaking news related to when The Young and the Restless officially will begin taping again.
