A sound close by alerted Kahlan. Footsteps pounded on the ground as she tried to escape the beast who was in her pursuit. Wings flapping as the trees bent to the winds of the oncoming creature, rushed by the with. In the distance, a clearing was there. She knew where it was and was going to avoid it but it seemed the beast was guiding her there. Panic coursed through the woman as her feet contacted the ground beneath her. Her dress flying behind her as she ran, her mind was only focused on surviving. This night was not going as planned. First she freed the group of children and was almost caught. The Druids met her in this very woods before the winged foe appeared and caused the group to scatter. No, this shouldn't be happening. It was not in the plan. Please let me live. Kahlan pleaded silently.

The clearing closed in. She had no choice. Cutting into the field, the beast circled around her and went to land. Tripping over her dress, she landed hard on the ground on her back. Bracing herself for her death, she squeezed her eyes shut instead. No teeth came on her. No pain. Just laughing? What in the name of the Goddess? Opening her pale orbs, she laid there in shock.

“Kahlan, do you think so poorly of my kind?” If she didn’t scream before, she did now and scrambled to her feet as fast as she could. Holding her hands out to put some distance between them, she backed away slowly. It was a poor attempt. “Yo…ou speak?” A chuckle came from it's mouth. “I do.” It seemed too amused by her distress and eyed her. “What do you want?” Eyeing her, he put his head closer to the ground to gain a better look at the frightened woman. “How small are you for someone who has such a great destiny.Destiny, why was this word always coming up? She was just the ward of Sarrum and nothing more.

Destiny?” Her hands came down to her sides. Curiosity got to her. “Yes, indeed. It is you, who would will help heal the lands of Albion for you are proclaimed the seeker by thousands of years beyond myself. You alone will bring back magic through the acts of love. Your love alone will shape the events foretold. You are deemed so.” Snorting, she shook her head. “That doesn’t sound like me. How can you ask this of me and how? How would I help?” The Great Dragon smirked. “It is not me who asks this. Take heed. It is your choice, Seeker who you choose, for you are doomed to love two. Emrys and the Once and Future King. Love will forge a new beginning. You alone can save the young Pendragon from his bane.” Arthur Pendragon? How she hated the arrogant prince. Tales in Amata painted him as like his father.

“You expect me to choose?! Easy. I don’t want either! I don’t want any part of this! How am I supposed to love someone whose father allows my kind to be prosecuted?!” The creature straightened his head. “You have much to learn, young seeker. Follow your heart. You can not escape your destiny anymore than you can stop the tides from coming.” As he spoke, he flapped his wings. Leaving her with more questions. “You can’t ask this of me!” Kilgharrah lifted into the air. “Only you can decide who is more worthy of your gifts! Choose wisely, for lives are at stake!” Taking off, he went to fly away into the distance. Kahlan, frustrated, screamed into the night.
