Will you do the honors to go on an adventure with me? As you wish.

The Princess Bride is a 1987 film adaptation based on the story written by William Goldman. Reading his grandson a tale about a pirate who saves his true love, the adventures of an epic fantasy adventure begin.

The Princess Bride is a lovely film. The story captivates audiences into a beautiful story. I always enjoy watching this film. The film has a heart, embodying a touching message for all audiences. Stories like The Princess Bride are significant as they reflect fantasy, adventure, and the will to imagine.

Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Christopher Guest, Wallace Shawn, the late Andre the Giant, Peter Falk, and Fred Savage are superb. An endless list of well-known cameos is included in supporting or minor roles. Expect appearances by the comedy legend Billy Crystal and Carol Kane.

The cast of The Princess Bride is what makes this film memorable. Each actor fits their character. All the interactions feel genuine. Most fans ask Mandy Patinkin to repeat his famous line. I know the first time I watched this film I gawked at the late Andre the Giant’s immense size. And how could you not smile whenever Vizzini (Shawn) shouts ‘inconceivable!’

The more I have watched this film, I have mixed feelings about Buttercup (Wright). While she is a headstrong person, some of her decisions didn’t match her character. Why would she believe someone she already does not trust? And there were times when she did nothing but watch during moments of crisis.

Her character could have been written better instead of coming across as a gullible young woman who lets people control her. All in all, this was Wright’s film debut. She does a remarkable job, growing in each of her performances.

My favorite aspect that was created specifically for this film was the segment involving the grandfather reading the story of ‘The Princess Bride’ to his grandson. The late Peter Falk and Fred Savage were excellent. Not only does it discuss how important reading is but how vital it is to have a relationship with your grandparents.

Filmmakers went above and beyond creating wonderful costume pieces and finding stunning locations for filming. There are some noticeable special effects but n no way does that ruin the film. The Princess Bride is what it is.

Rob Reiner did an exemplary job with William Goldman’s adaption of The Princess Bride. I have not read the book but it attracts the right tone, message, and morals. He captured the essence of the film by working closely with all the actors. For one scene involving Crystal, Reiner had to remove himself from the set because he laughed too hard.

No matter how old we get, we can never let go of our imagination. The Princess Bride is treasured with notable stories from behind the scenes. That’s my favorite part of movies. Stories embody a film. Be thankful for stories.

For his arc, Patinkon used a crucial bond to create the right emotion for his character, even finding closure. Elwes and Wright fell in love on set just like their characters. And I enjoyed learning more about Andre the Giant. Using special camera tricks, Andre couldn’t support immense weight. Based on remarks, he was a man with a heart of gold.

The Princess Bride is a classic. It’s a film that teaches you to imagine. No matter what, it always makes me smile or laugh. If you have not seen it I suggest that you watch The Princess Bride with the whole family.
