Movie Review: 'The Stand In' starring Drew Barrymore
The Stand In stars Drew Barrymore in the dual role of a movie star and her dumpy stand in. The movie star, Candy Black, is a comedy icon in the vein of an Adam Sandler, who became a superstar for her gross out comedies where she was paid millions of dollars to tumble to the ground and say her ludicrous catchphrase “Hit me where it hurts.” Naturally, behind the scenes, Candy is a complete disaster.

A Filmmaker's Guide to: Metafiction
In this chapter of ‘the filmmaker’s guide’ we’re actually going to be learning about literature and film together. I understand that many of you are sitting in university during difficult times and finding it increasingly hard to study and I understand that many of you who are not at university or not planning on it are possibly stuck of what to do, need a break or even need to catch up on learning film before you get to the next level. This guide will be brief but will also contain: new vocabulary, concepts and theories, films to watch and we will be exploring something taboo until now in the ‘filmmaker’s guide’ - academia (abyss opens). Each article will explore a different concept of film, philosophy, literature or bibliography/filmography etc. in order to give you something new to learn each time we see each other. You can use some of the words amongst family and friends to sound clever or you can get back to me (email in bio) and tell me how you’re doing. So, strap in and prepare for the filmmaker’s guide to film studies because it is going to be one wild ride.

Top 5 Worst Movies with Cops I had to Endure
After spending three months, working almost every day to attempt to watch as much content featuring police officers as is humanly possible in order to make a documentary proposal on police depictions, I feel I require a conclusion to this saga before I go on my first holiday in a year and three months. Said conclusion is what you are reading right now and the top two reigning champions of this list inspired it. Now I must provide a disclaimer of this article being merely my own opinion. However, I refuse. This is the ultimate truth. These films are just that bad. You can enjoy them, sure. Nevertheless, they are bad. I can say, with utmost certainty, that I would run a mile from anyone who enjoys number one. That may sound harsh now, but trust me, you will understand. I hope my list will bring you some closure from any sense of morbid curiosity about these movies and you do not decide to waste your time with them. Anyway, without any further ado…

The Walton's The Homecoming A Christmas Story
There is an old television Christmas movie by the name of 'The Homecoming A Christmas Story' that I found on YouTube. I remember watching this movie when I was child with my parents. This was the very beginning of the television series 'The Walton's that appeared on CBS in 1972. I remember watching this movie when I was a small boy and asking my parents this question "Was that what it was like when you were little?" My mom and dad always shared what their childhood was like with all their children.

Movie Review: 'Bad Boys for Life'
Looking back at the movies of 2020, especially those that were released pre-COVID shutdown, it’s as if these movies came out a decade ago not a mere 9 or 10 months. COVID-19 plus the election made 2020 feel as if it were a decade all in one year. We all aged about a decade waiting for good news, waiting for the election to end, waiting for a time when we could talk to relatives again without worrying about killing them by sharing the same air and space.

The movies of my childhood and what they taught me
Backstory I figure since I chose this image from "The Virgin Suicides" I should begin with this film. Like many of the drama films I watched as a child, this movie was enjoyed in secret when I was home alone on a Friday night. I was in high school, I can't recall the exact age, but I remember being old enough to freely browse the cable channels. And I stopped on this movie because of the color of the film. I've always loved pastels and pinks and that dreamy type of aesthetic. When I saw this I didn't even pay attention to the storyline, just the visuals of the film. I watched it all the way through without really knowing what it was about. Years later, in my college dorm room, I would rewatch it. This time I would really watch it.

Movie Review: 'Minor Premise' is Clever Indie Sci-Fi
Minor Premise stars Sathy Sridharan as Ethan, a neuroscientist in need of a nap and a shave. Unfortunately, that’s not possible as Ethan’s latest experiment has fractured his consciousness into component parts, each acting independently of the other during their time in control of his body. At first, this is presented as Ethan blacking out of periods of time over the course of an hour. However, when Ethan’s ex, Alli (Paton Ashbrook) arrives, part of Ethan’s brain figures out what is going on.
