Juneteenth: Support Black Film
Introduction Growing up my parents believed very strongly in supporting anything Black made. They believed the only way to have more Black people in positions of power was to support the ones who have made it. Since my personal belief is to support Black people who share a passion and desire to grow the Black community. Not all Black influencers use their voice to uplift the community and therefore those influencers don't get my attention or money. With that being said, I still believe firmly in supporting Black doers and makers. Black entertainment has been a pivotal part of my own identity and upbringing. In fact, some of the only spaces for queer representation that I experienced happened while watching B.E.T. as a kid. While two of the movies on this list were less a part of my childhood and more of my adult-childhood, I find these to be influential on my journey through life and self-liberation.

Return to Me
Springtime is easily my favorite season. With an exception for the unbearable allergies, it is filled with beautiful colors, early and late sunlight, and most importantly a craving for romantic movies. For this reason I knew I had to write a post about love before Spring concluded.

The movies of my childhood and what they taught me
Backstory I figure since I chose this image from "The Virgin Suicides" I should begin with this film. Like many of the drama films I watched as a child, this movie was enjoyed in secret when I was home alone on a Friday night. I was in high school, I can't recall the exact age, but I remember being old enough to freely browse the cable channels. And I stopped on this movie because of the color of the film. I've always loved pastels and pinks and that dreamy type of aesthetic. When I saw this I didn't even pay attention to the storyline, just the visuals of the film. I watched it all the way through without really knowing what it was about. Years later, in my college dorm room, I would rewatch it. This time I would really watch it.
