It has a movie with an original story, a musical and video game adaptation, pop-up stores selling original merchandise, and pop-up cafes serving dishes seen in the anime set up across the globe. Yes, that's how popular Spy x Family has become since its sensational debut in 2022.

The charming spy action comedy series follows the adventures of Westalis spy Loid Forger who, after tasked to create a fake family for a mission in Ostania, unwittingly adopts orphan Anya who is a telepath and marries town clerk Yor who is an undercover assassin. And let's not forget their future-seeing dog, Bond.

Based on Tatsuya Endo’s best-selling Japanese manga (2019-present,) Spy x Family continues to delight fans with its second season which aired from October to December 2023. Season 2's only snag? That it just has 12 episodes, whereas the debut season was 25-episode long.

The sophomore season however still thrilled viewers especially as almost half the season was devoted to the much-anticipated Cruise Ship Arc from the manga that showcases Yor's astonishing fighting and survival skills, as well as Anya's comical attempts to be perceived as a hero in her own right.

The reason for a short second season is arguably because of Spy x Family Code: White, a full-length film with an original story by Endo that does not appear in the anime or the on-going manga. Released in Christmas 2023 right after Season 2 ended its run, it is currently making its way to cinemas worldwide after smashing box office records in Japan.

The movie's premise has Loid, in the hope of saving Operation Strix, takes the family on a winter weekend holiday, only for Anya to set off a chain of events that could put world peace at risk.

Judging by the favorable reviews, Spy x Family Code: White was not only funny and entertaining, its plot does not alter or affect the storylines in the anime or manga in any way.

With over 34 million copies in circulation, the manga is currently at Chapter/Mission 92* at end 2023. (*The manga missions denote chapters, while missions in the anime are by and large numbered differently from the source material.)

With Season 2 ending with Mission 58.2 of the manga, here are 10 manga scenes we want to see next in Spy x Family Season 3, which is likely to debut in Q3 2024.

(Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS of Spy x Family ahead.)

10 'Spy x Family' Manga Scenes We Want to See in Season 3:

1. Yor Meets Melinda Desmond

Loid's Operation Strix involves getting close to Donovan Desmond, the Chairman of Ostania's National Unity Party. Plan B is to get Anya to make friends with Donovan's son Damian at Eden Academy. Plan C however was set in motion when in Mission 65, Yor has a chance meeting with Donovan's wife Melinda while shopping, which leads to a hilarious volleyball match where the Thorn Princess innocently displays her super strength. From Yor trying to blend in with snotty socialites to Anya's anguish that she will be made redundant in Operation Strix is nothing but a barrel of laughs.

2. Loid's Wartime Memories

Ever since Westalis was attacked by Ostania, the two neighboring countries have never trusted each other. In Chapters 62-62.3, we learnt how young Westalis native Loid lost his family and friends during the start of the war, why he joined the army as a youth (where he crossed paths with Ostania-born Franky), and eventually how he was recruited by WISE to be trained as a spy. Easily one of the most somber storylines in the manga.

3. The Red Circus Bus Hijack

If you thought the Cruise Ship Arc was intense, wait till you see the Red Circus/Bus Hijack Arc. Chapters 69-74 truly delivered some edge-of-your-seat stuff in the manga when Anya and her schoolmates, whilst on a field trip to the Berlint Museum, had their bus hijacked by members of the Red Circus, an Ostanian terrorist group. Bravery, intelligence and pure idiocy of various characters arise in this gripping arc which will make you laugh out loud and gasp in shock concurrently.

4. The Original 'Spy Wars' Episode

As Anya continues to fail her school tests, Loid reckons that the only way she can truly learn if it is through her favorite TV show, Spy Wars. Enlisting the help of Franky, the two worked through the night producing an entire original episode of Spy Wars packed with mathematics riddles, historical facts and general knowledge. Will Anya be able to absorb all the info in one viewing? Watch and find out...

5. Tonitrus Terror

In Mission 61, one of the most delightful characters to emerge from the manga is Mdm Donna Schlag of Eden Academy's Disciplinary Committee who hands out Tonitrus Bolts to unsuspecting students like swatting flies with a sledgehammer. Despite knowing that Loid would flip and faint if she gets yet another Tonitrus Bolt, Anya lets her obsession with making Plan B a success clouds her regrettable act of kindness to Damian big time...

6. Thorn Princess v Twilight Showdown Foreshadowed?

[Credit: Spy x Family manga Mission 79]

In Mission 79, Yor has another hilarious episode when she became drunk during a rare drinking session with her city hall colleagues. Mistaking the fact that "having murderous thoughts against one's husband" will make her seem "normal", an intoxicated Yor imagines herself asking the Shopkeeper for permission to kill Loid "to preserve her marriage".

The scenario—of the Thorn Princess having a showdown with master spy Twilight—could possibly be foreshadowing what some fans have reckoned will occur close to the Spy x Family climax when the couple finally discover each other's true identities during their likely assignments to take each other out...

7. Anya and the Professor

[Credit: Spy x Family manga Mission 64]

Yes, she is cute and sassy, but Anya does have many a dimwit moment too. Okay, we know she's only four but still, nothing was more revealing than that when she spent an afternoon with the elegant Professor Henry Henderson who offers our little lass tasty tea cakes in order to provide her with some academic advice, only to discover just incredibly shallow our adorable heroine could be.

8. The Handler's Hound

Loid's boss, Sylvia Sherwood a.k.a. The Handler, is strict and competent but has a soft heart towards dogs and young kids. We suspected that she probably lost loved ones during the war and at present, all she cares about is to keep Westalis safe. In Mission 78, we get to learn more of the woman when she and her adopted bomb dog Aaron went to deliver a work message to Loid who is with Anya and Bond at a park, only to culminate in an comical dog versus dog competition between Bond and Aaron.

9. The Odd Couple

Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you. That's frosty Fiona Frost and gadgets expert Franky Franklin all dressed up and about to enter a swanky club to meet one of his secret contacts in Mission 60. Franky is always a laugh and to see him trying to suck up to the lovelorn-for-Loid Fiona as she engages his help for a mission is simply a hoot.

10. The Westalis Mole Hunt Arc

[Credit: Spy x Family manga Mission 81]

A real heart-in-the-mouth moment occurs during the Westalis Mole Hunt Arc which take place from Missions 81 to 86. Though this will probably take place in Season 4 (or even Season 5 if the next season is going to have only 12 episodes), this is certainly one of the most exciting sequences in the manga to date as Loid and WISE seek to squeeze out the mole among them who has been selling secrets to Ostania. Not only does Loid has his most harrowing encounter with Yor's brother and SSS member Yuri Blair, his Twilight persona was almost revealed in the process. Truly a hair-raising, fingernail-biting moment, this. Can't wait to see it animated on screen!

Depending on region, Spy x Family Season 1 and 2 are streaming on Crunchyroll, Netflix, DisneyPlus and Prime Video.

I loved this article! I absolutely can't wait to watch the movie in theaters. I know it will be a complete blast! There honestly are just too many moments in the manga in which I can't wait to see animated. I feel confident with the popularity of the manga and anime that we shall see the entirety of the story brought to life on the big screen!
