Of course, San Diego Comic Con was the most amazing nerd experience. After about 10 years of my father and I trying desperately to get tickets, and failing, I finally got to go as press with Intermyth and Temple of Geek. I was also able to get my father a pass and made both of our nerd dreams come true. The weekend was packed and when the schedule was released I had a very difficult time deciding what we were actually going to go to.

The first panel we went to (and was late for) was Jamie Lee Curtis for her new comic, Mother Nature. My dear father bragged to everyone that would talk to him that I got him into his first comic con panel, VIP. Jamie Lee was an absolute delight, she promoted her comic of course but she also talked about things she wanted to do as she gets older, and how she tries to always be learning. Hearing her talk in person about something that she is passionate about was delightful. Favorite quote; “I’m 65 years old, I don’t have much time left. I’ve got shit to do”

The next thing on the schedule was finally getting to see the McElroy’s. As a huge MBMBAM and The Adventure Zone fan (and as someone who had to miss seeing them live last year because of COVID) I was over the moon to finally see them live. They were as funny and goofy as ever and seeing them on stage with Clint was a dream.

Then we had 2 hours of Invincible. The 20th anniversary panel for the comic book was great, the creators talked about their favorite issues of the series and how it was to have it adapted into a show. The panel also came with many many announcements including; a video game, merch, and 2 tabletop games. They also said that their announcements were just the tip of the iceberg as far as what was going to be released.

The next stop was the girls of Hillywood, celebrating their latest parody release. They talked about their creative process (or lack thereof) and how long it takes them to produce these parodies as the two of them are their entire production team. Seeing them on stage in such a packed hall was great, they are truly adorable.

The last thing of our first night was a very special screening of the Atom Eve special that everyone can watch on Prime video. Now yes, we could have watched the new episode from the comfort of our hotel room (that wasn’t actually that comfortable) but watching it with fellow fans was an awesome experience. There were many times the audience cheered or laughed and then quieted down really quick so that we didn’t miss anything. In addition, attending the screening at comic con got us free Atom Eve posters and a pin. Comic con has some cool stuff guys.

Friday was day one for us and it was nonstop exhausting. We were going from panel to panel, we walked about 10,000 steps, and did nothing but soak up the nerd vibes. We didn’t even have time to go to the exhibit hall the first day. We were happily exhausted by the time we made it back to the hotel and we couldn’t wait for Saturday. I was very very lucky to get the opportunity to finally go to the biggest convention of the year and I can not show enough appreciation for Temple of Geek and InterMyth for granting me the opportunity. I am hoping to be at their side again next year, and take my father of course.
