Doug Davidson rumors return

Doug Davidson’s character Paul Williams was dropped as a regular on The Young and the Restless in 2018. Paul was on hand when the CBS soap celebrated 40 years of Eric Braeden and Victor Newman while the same was not done regarding Davidson's 5 decades on the show. Then head writer Mal Young even had Rey Todskes (Jordi Vilasuso) sitting in Paul’s chair at the GCPD and fans were livid.

Since Josh Griffith took over Paul has been mentioned a few times but not brought back on the screen. Davidson’s fans have signed petitions and sent emails to CBS but it’s all been in vain. Davidson has resigned himself to the situation and advised fans via Twitter that he will not return. Now that Rey has been killed in a car crash and Vilasuso is gone there are rumors thst Paul will be coming back.

There are people in Facebook groups saying that Davidson has been rehired but so far no soap spoilers or news outlets have confirmed. Diane Jenkins ( Cynthia Walters ) was recently raised for the dead which stunned a lot of viewers. Some questioned why this character returned to Genoa Cuty but not Paul.

Paul Williams fans remain distraught

Y&R fans still recall the awkward scene a few years back where Michael Baldwin ( Christian LeBlanc) and Paul were dressed in white shorts as they had just finished a game of racketball. Viewers were outraged at the insult which implied these veteran characters were relives of the past. They had not played racketball in at least a decade and fans felt the writers could have done better.

There currently is no crime in Genoa City thst needs solving but Paul and his wife Christine Willliams ( Lauralee Bell) could still have valuable storylines. Christine had not been seen since Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) returned. Not long ago Bell was quoted as saying she would love to have more scenes like the one where she and Paul had a picnic in Chancellor Park and fans desire the same.

Doug Davidson loves his followers

No reason was given for why Davidson was fired and there were no rumblings that he was hard to get along with on the set. The actor continues to let fans know he loves and appreciates them and this is why they remain so loyal. Josh Griffith has been focusing entire episodes recently to the Newmans and the Abbotts but they are not the only beloved Genoa City chsracters.

In addition to Paul and Christine fans say they want to see more of Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikasrt) Vhlie zGidher ( Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Gloria Bardwell ( Judith Chapman). These characters could add so much to the storylines if given a chance. Michael and Lauren got a bit more screen time when Victor Newman ( Eric Braeden) was trying to take down Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) but now have faded into the woodwork yet again.

Davidson's Y&R future remains unknown

Many soap stars who have said they were done have returned to daytime. Consider Michael Mealor recently came back as Kyle Abbott. Others like Hunter King ( Summer Newman) move on to different roles and do not return. It’s possible that Y&R execs may not reach out to Davidson and if they do he might stick to his guns and say no. There is also the possibility that the love of his fans would encourage the actor to reprise his beloved character if asked.
