In the final episode of season seven of Brooklyn 99, titled "Lights Out", we see our favorite characters being their usual selves in entirely new situations. This episode wasn't the best of season seven, but every character got to be a part of this episode and be able to showcase their best talents as they all pull together for a great ending to the season. The episode begins when all of Brooklyn experiences a blackout. We see Hitchcock and Scully spring to action by eating all the food before it goes bad (don't get distracted by the frosting, guys), Amy runs a whole precinct while Rosa gets grossed out over childbirth (Please don't show her page 214). Lastly, Jake and Charles are on the case of finding out what caused the blackout, setting in motion a string of incidents for them to encounter on their way back to the precinct (including female public urination) with the perp, an old-fashioned woman named Dotty, and a PedalPub bachelorette party.

Amy is on her last shift before the start of her maternity leave and all of Brooklyn has just experienced a power outage, leaving Holt and Jeffords trapped in an elevator. In typical Amy fashion, she quickly gets to work running the precinct and solving problems, despite the fact that she's about to give birth.

Meanwhile, Jake and Charles investigate the cause. They arrive at the crime scene where they are told someone drunkenly drove a car into a transformer, causing it to explode. They follow "a very obvious" trail of blood that leads them to the perp.

Back at the precinct, Amy's water has broken and she's surprisingly cool. Rosa is freaking out at the grossness of childbirth, showing us a new side of vulnerability to her usual coolness. To no one's surprise, Charles oversteps his boundaries, going as far as to state his purpose on Earth is to help Jake get to the birth of his son. Enter Dotty, an interesting character to throw in considering her old-fashioned views on childbirth and criminal punishment.

Terry realizes that Holt has a fear of being trapped in an elevator from a childhood incident. Terry being Terry, steps up to teach Holt some dance moves to distract him.

The power comes back on freeing Terry and Holt from the elevator (no thanks to the fire department) and they are filled in by Amy who will not make it to a hospital. Hitchcock and Scully come through with a win when they turn their nap spots into a birthing suite for Amy. Terry and Holt distract her from her pains by showing her the dance and Charles swallows his pride and calls upon now Lt. Peanut Butter to get Jake to see the birth of his son, Mac.
