I am working on a review of the most recent Ted Lasso episode which I will publish here soon. My process was somewhat messy: I watched the episode several times, jotting down some key ideas, details and character lines. Then I decided to experiment with the ChatGPT and asked it to write a 600-word essay using my raw material. Granted, my thoughts were somewhat disconnected and out of sequence, I was still shocked by the result. I think it could very well be an alternative version for fanfic. Judge it for yourselves, below is the story in its entirety (about 60 words short of 600, so the chatbot has close to human college students' estimates of the essay length).

Rebecca Welton, one of the core characters in the popular TV show Ted Lasso, has always been a fan favorite. Her storyline is intriguing and relatable, and the addition of a new love interest in Season 2 has only made it more captivating. The Dutchman, as he is known, is mysterious, handsome, and nameless, but that hasn't stopped viewers from being all in for the ride.

At the start of the show, Rebecca is a divorced woman who got the Richmond football club in the settlement. Her primary objective is to ruin the club, which was her ex-husband's favorite toy, and blame it on the clueless American coach, Ted Lasso. However, over time, Ted's kindness and sincerity win her over, and they become close friends. Although many fans were rooting for them to become a couple, I, for one, am glad that they remained friends. Their bond is unique and refreshing, and it would have been too formulaic and banal if they had gotten together.

One of the things I loved watching in Season 2 was Rebecca trying to move on from her past relationships. Her involvement with Sam Obisanya, a talented Nigerian player from her club, was a joy to watch. They broke so many stereotypes and showed viewers that love can come from unexpected places.

Their relationship was full of surprises, from Sam's cooking skills to Rebecca's ability to appreciate him for who he is. They had great chemistry, and the writers did an excellent job of showcasing their connection. The scene where they soul-gaze without words or incomplete phrases is an excellent example of how well they understand each other. The foot massage scene was hilarious and showed the depth of their relationship.

One of the best things about Rebecca and Sam's relationship is how much they say without saying anything at all. Rebecca's facial expressions convey interest, appreciation, and comfort, and it's evident that she's happy in Sam's company.

The scene where Sam asks Rebecca if they slept together, and Rebecca nods with both relief and regret, is a testament to the excellent writing on the show. The dialogue between the characters is fantastic, and the comedic timing is perfect. When Sam jokes about Alzheimer's, it's an excellent example of an expectancy violation, and the laughter that follows is infectious.

The last scene where Rebecca and Sam reflect on their night together is both hopeful and melancholic. The deep reflective sigh and longing gaze leave so many possibilities open for the viewers to ponder. Did they have a one-night stand that reinforced their faith in their self-worth? Did they connect on a deeper level, leaving it up to the universe to bring them back together? Or did they have a night of passion that resulted in Rebecca becoming pregnant, as the psychic predicted?

In conclusion, Rebecca Welton's new love interest in Ted Lasso is a mysterious, handsome Dutchman, and I'm all in for the ride. Rebecca and Sam's relationship was one of the highlights of Season 2, and the writers did an excellent job of showcasing their connection. Although their relationship didn't end up lasting, it showed viewers that love can come from unexpected places, and that's a message we can all take to heart.
