My Review of "Mr. Mayor: Season 2"

Now we're getting into some dangerous territory.

Mr. Mayor: Season 2 has just finished up. Boy did they have a heck of a season. Last season we had a great introduction to all of the main characters in the show. At first I didn't think I'd really get into the show as the characters were so off kilter. I would eventually warm up to all of the characters even the ones that aren't supposed to be liked.

The first half of this season compiles a bunch of one off storylines that kind of helps us get more acclimated to the characters again. They have pretty creative writers to come up with some of the hilarious situations that they placed them into. In some ways it reminds me of a mix between The Office and Parks and Rec.

We get introduced to some new characters as well. One is a love interest for Mikaela. There's a bit of a will they or won't they going on but they quickly quash this trope later on in the season. I was getting a little worried that they would be milking this relationship for all its worth.

They did have some hilarious episodes of the two getting together and then repelling from each other instantly. The characters are so neurotic you can't help but laugh. Each of them are such extreme versions of people we've all probably met in our lives.

Another great new character is Titi B. She's a social media mogul that crashes her car into Neil's car. It's hilarious how she is able to flip everything on Neil when she's obviously in the wrong. It's obviously a satire of the outrageousness of social media power. They also bring up interesting conversation of what is power.

In some sense we see Neil has power since he is able to get things done in the city. Then again we learn more about how Titi B. has much more power than him as her influential power has more impact than him actually getting things done.

Titi B starts off as a joke character that we kind of play off but she's actually brilliant. It's like she's planning everything out and has this façade as a social media idiot. She knows exactly what she's doing and she's able to maximize all of her opportunities. It really makes you wonder about influencers on social media. They have to be smart because they've been up at the top for a long time.

Startling is the about face that Jayden takes closer to the end of this season. Throughout the first season and the majority of the second season we see him as a lovable idiot. He turns out to be a brilliant campaign manager. It's the last person we would have expected to be so conniving genius.

Unfortunately the whole gang is starting to split up due to the mayoral campaign close to the end of the season. We really start to see some cracks in Neil's mayoral power. By the end of the season everything is up in the air and we're not sure what's going to happen and this makes for pretty fantastic TV because now I can't wait until the next season starts.

Overall, I really liked this season. It starts off a little slow but ramps up really fast by the middle of the season. The outrageous chaos that happens closer to the end of the season is easy to follow and will have you at the edge of your seat in anticipation. I have to give this season a 7.5 out of 10. The show is about the mayor but anyone can be the mayor. I hope this show continues to ascend in popularity.
