After watching it so many times. I was wondering what was still exciting about this movie.

Back to the Future is pretty much a classic for me. I've seen this movie so many times at different stages of my life. When I was a youngster it blew my mind because it was pure imagination come to life. As a young adult it was a fun ride down memory lane. As an older adult I don't wasn't too sure how I would take this movie as I've seen it so many times. I was actually pretty worried that I've seen it too many times.

For those that have been living under a rock for decades, this movie starts off in the year 1985. A teenager by the name of Marty is a mild mannered kid that happens to hang out with this middle aged mad genius. One night this mad genius named Doc Brown reveals to Marty that he had created a time machine out of a car called a DeLorean.

To power up this time machine Doc had lied to Libyan terrorists to gain access to Plutonium. It's the only thing that can power up his machine but they're expecting him to create a bomb. Eventually the Libyans find out and go after Doc. To escape the clutches of these Libyans, Marty uses the DeLorean. The problem is he speeds past 88 miles per hour and is transferred 39 years into the past.

There he encounters his parents and inadvertently screws up the chemistry the two had for each other. The repercussions of his actions may erase himself and his siblings from the face of the earth if he doesn't somehow get them back together.

That's basically the story and as simple as it sounds, there's so many elements to it. After watching this movie so many times I found the time travel aspect of the story kind of boring. I know how it works and everything so it's almost like a record on repeat. The first few times of watching it is fine but when you know exactly what's going to happen it takes a lot to listen to them explain everything.

The real meat of the story is actually the love story of Marty's parents. That car scene at the dance still to this day gets to me. I can watch that scene over and over again. This scene will never get old with me because of the way that it's set up.

Watching this movie over again does have some perks though. There are so many clues and setups in the beginning of the movie that it's almost like finding new things every time you watch this movie. It's like you're privy to an inside joke throughout the movie. I did find myself paying attention to those little things more often than a lot of the introduction explanations.

Surprisingly, a lot of the special effects still hold pretty strong. Of course there are a lot of bad special effects sprinkled throughout this movie as well. The worse culprit is probably that hand scene close to the end with the band playing. Still there's so few of these moments that take you out of the movie that you kind of go with it.

I'm also surprised about the pacing of the movie. You feel like they've been stuck in the past forever when it's actually just a week there. So many of their relationships have been build very well throughout the week and it almost felt like these characters have known each other for years.

Overall, this was still quite an enjoyable trip. A lot of it was nostalgia that kept me going but there's that ultimate payoff scene that really makes up for the time that I spent watching. If you haven't seen this movie I would say, you have to go see it. Those that have seen it over and over again, I think you'll be okay if you pass. This movie is probably a classic for up to 5 repeat viewings and then you'll probably get over it. I have to give this movie an 8.5 out of 10.
