Must Love Christmas Movie review – "Binge" –

I saw it in the movie theaters recently and I don't know if I will ever see it again. I love the "Christmas Movie Week" section on television (and on Starz), but this movie, however cheesy and corny, was one that I will never watch again. I'm sure the Disney people made a ton of money on it and I'm sure Disney will see the movies their kids and families enjoy as "must-watch," but let's be honest. In addition to looking like any generic horror film, the movie is on a slow-moving time-loop like animation and the fear factor is nil. Aside from the characters having more of a three-dimensional quality and some odd moments in the movie, it's a mere time-traveler's movie. If you want to see a movie, do yourself a favor and buy an Academy Award® winning DVD (or Blu-Ray) of Spaceballs for about $15. It's worth your money, at least in the comedy section of a bookstore.

If you're concerned about whether you would enjoy a movie on this rating, I think your mind is made up. The most startling thing about this film is it was made before there were Netflix and Hulu streaming options and it was shown in movie theaters and still sold very well. If you would have watched it before the entertainment industry went to three-dimensionality, you would probably be convinced that it was just an animated kids' movie. Must Love Christmas Movie is not a must-watch or a must-binge. The movie earns its rating of "Binge" and I can't say if I will see it again, even though I'll probably look at the DVD. Let's review what must be in a "Must Love Christmas Movie," based on this movie and take some shots.

A "Must Love Christmas Movie" has to have a certain amount of blood and gore in order to maintain its rating. Well, if the gore were not there, this movie would not be a "Must Love Christmas Movie." And, what would happen to a "Must Love Christmas Movie"? Would they survive because of blood? There are definitely characters who either die, come close to dying, or who look like they are dead. Even though they are in a movie, blood and death are still in the minds of the viewer. The villain, a seemingly evil Santa, with a body-switch-monster-type thing and two equally evil beings with laser guns are not pretty. However, if they were in another movie, this would not be "must-watch" in the same sense it is in this one. The film has pretty cool CGI for creatures and a Christmas setting to enhance its "must-watch" status. I have heard people say that they love this movie or they love this movie, but I think I disagree. I liked the story, for the most part. The movie is funny and it is a crowd-pleaser, but it's not "must-watch."

If you are expecting a movie like The Nightmare Before Christmas or Toy Story, then this is the movie you should probably watch. If you want a "Christmas Movie" that has some acting, drama, a Christmas setting, characters who are "must-love" and that may or may not be killed by one, it is a "must-watch," even though it isn't a "must-love Christmas Movie." In addition to a good amount of gore and blood, you have some subplots (even if they don't contribute much to the overall story).

If you're ready to buy this movie and if you don't want to buy it, then it doesn't "binge-watch" well. But, if you're willing to pay for it on a rental, then it's definitely a "must-watch," especially if you have any kids or family members to watch it with.

Jason Ritter and Amy Ryan from TV's "How I Met Your Mother" star as two quirky people who are just out of college and are roommates in this movie...

With the conclusion of "Christmas Movie Week," I have decided that must-watch Christmas movies need a review that I hope, someday, to compile with other articles and films in this series.
