House of the Dragon Ep. 2

Review

We started off the new season of House of the Dragon with a grieving Rhaenyra, blood and cheese and a disgusting display between Alicent and crispy Cole. There is obviously going to be some fallout here in the second episode. With blood and cheese the dance has officially started and now the war is no longer about the throne, it is about vengeance and loss. So let’s get into House of the Dragon season 2 episode 2.

The guards of the red keep are finally off of their asses, too little too late. And here comes crispy Cole, the worst leader of all time.

Aegon is smashing Viserys’ little lego kingdom and finally realizing that war has already been declared. Hilarious how it took his child dying to finally give a shit. He was drunk in the throne room while his son was beheaded…literally every single green is to blame for this.

Alicent’s bullshit crocodile tears are too much. Maybe if you weren’t fucking the head of the kings guard your daughter wouldn’t have lost her child. And then she goes to Heleana and tells her that they will be parading her dead son around in order to publicly make Rhaenyra look bad, it's so gross. If we hadn’t reached this conclusion yet, the greens suck. For them to publicly besmirch the character of a grieving mother is disgusting, Rheanyra the cruel is still my girl and I hope all the greens scream suffering in dragonfire.

The only person I have an ounce of sympathy for in this situation is Heleana. The poor girl just watched her son beheaded, her mom riding a member of the king's guard and she has not been allowed to grieve.

My sweet Rhaenyra is so appalled by what happened and even more disgusted that people would try and pin this horrific act on her. I love that she rips Daemon a new one. She is too strong for him, he was always going to undercut her. He is too unpredictable and she is too methodical, smart and even tempered. Daemon needs to simply follow instructions.

Crackhead Cole going off about purity and honor after he is 100% the reason a 4 year old is dead is actually crazy. Coleslaw really tries to blame the other members of the King’s guard when all he had to do was keep his dick to himself and do his job and we wouldn’t be here right now. Words can not describe the hatred I have for him. Cole really wants him to go after Rhaenrya at Dragonstone, the only major flaw in that plan being that her guard actually pays attention.

We are spending time with the smallfolk for some reason…not really sure what the relevance of that was. Except to maybe show that the general public isn’t as pleased with Aegon as they appear to be. Aegon proves once again that he is a bad king. Which we all knew was going to happen but it's something the internet seems to forget. Aegon is an idiot, he is truly a terrible ruler. Otto bringing up Viserys is a lot hilarious considering that they went directly against his wishes and usurped the throne. Also making coleslaw his hand just proves how stupid he is. By this line of action team Green should be dead by morning, it is astonishing how long this war lasts because the greens are all so stupid.

With all the sexism involved in this show, Sara Hess really writes Rhaenyra as a helpless girl when Arryk and Erryk are fighting as if my girl didn’t slaughter a boar at 14. You are telling me that in her whole bedchamber she doesn’t have a single sword? Knife? Dagger? Bullshit.

And we were all subjected to yet another Alicole scene which is really gross and we’re all over it.

Sara Hess proves once again that she is a bad writer. There was a lot of ancillary crap that we really didn’t need. We spent way too much time with the smallfolk and these very random sailors. 4 scenes of literal nothingness. 4 scenes that should have been spent with our main characters. The rat catchers scene is theoretically the only one that was vaguely necessary. Crispy Cole needs to die, I am really over his existence.
