Those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS are in agreement with spoiler alerts that things are about to go downhill in Genoa City, The residents who make up the village surrounding the baby that Mariah just gave birth to will find themselves taking sides in a possible custody battle. On Friday's episode of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS the new mom continued to bond with her child in spite of the fact that she agreed to give him to Abby.

Mariah asked the nurse if she could feed Dominic and as she did so she emphasized to him that he was drinking her breast milk. She obviously wishes she could breastfeed the child. She also told him that he would always be Bowie to her and in that moment it was evident that trouble is coming. There was nothing malicious about the actions of the new mom as she was only responding to normal maternal instinct. Spoilers tease that trouble will soon be brewing and it began on Friday.

Mariah is torn.

When Abby walked through the door of the hospital room you could see the shock on her face to find Mariah feeding her son. Abby asked if she could finish the feeding but it was too late. The bottle was empty and Mariah explained that the baby had been hungry so she fed him. Abby then asked if she could at least burb the baby took Dominic in her arms. Both the birth mom as well as the one who is supposed to raise the boy seem tense and unsure of their roles.

Tessa who had accompanied Abby to the hospital was staring at her significant other with a worried look on her face. Earlier in the week, Maria had told Tessa that she did not know if she could give the baby up, and now she had asked the nurse if she could feed him rather than wait for Abby to show up. Abby and Mariah were both awkward and neither seemed to want to offend the other. The tension between them is only going to mount based on spoilers for THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.

Abby and Devon will bot have conflicting emotions

Things are going to take an interesting turn when Mariah and Dominic return to the Chancellor mansion. There will be a welcome home party for the baby and the two moms will continue to be at odds. Right now they are dancing around each other but at some point, Abby will want to stake her claim and announce that she and not Mariah is the child's mother. Tessa is caught in the middle but her loyalty will always be with Mariah. She sees the pain and the conflict and will just want to make it better.

This is a sticky situation that no one thought out in advance. Abby will naturally desire for Mariah to bow out gracefully and allow her to bond with Dominic but Ms. Copeland has already formed an attachment to the child she carried for all of those months. Tessa might hope there can be some type of middle ground but there is none. At some point, Abby might decide that it is best for Tessa and Mariah to move out of her home because Dominic might become confused with both mothers trying to raise him.

Tessa will stand by Mariah

There is also the issue of the missing Chance who probably is needed to sign adoption papers unless Abby has his power of attorney or can adopt the child without his signature. Another problem is that Devon who is a friend to Abby and once dated Mariah is the biological dad of Dominic. On Friday's episode of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, Amanda tried her best to get Devon to admit that he is connected to his son but he would not. At some point he must get in touch with those feelings and if Chance remains out of town Devon might consider seeking an active role in his son's life.

Abby moved Mariah and Tessa into her home was working until Stitch kidnapped the pregnant woman. Nina is also living with them and no doubt will be a part of the welcome home celebration. As the mother of the baby's adopted dad, she will desire a role in her grandson's life. Once Dominic is home there is sure to be friction between all of these women who are in his life. Abby and Nina will want to assert themselves as mother and grandma while Mariah is feeling a pull on her heartstrings as the bio mom. Tessa desires to protect the woman she loves so this will be one big mess.

These grandparents will naturally weigh in on the situation

Mariah and Abby might clash over feeding time or how to hold the baby and other trivial matters. It looks like THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS has set up a controversy that could end up involving many Genoa City residents. Victor has already been reaching out to his youngest daughter and he will do all in his power to ensure her happiness and that she can keep her new son. Amanda will be encouraging Devon and perhaps advising him from a legal standpoint. Jack might weigh in and Ashley could always return and give her two cents regarding her new grandchild.

Sharon will naturally stick up for her daughter no matter what decision she makes so this is going to be pretty interesting. Nikki will also give her two cents on the matter although Abby is not her biological daughter. Mariah and Bowie were alone together compliments of Stitch and Ms. Copeland was determined to keep her child safe. Her emotions are out of whack as a new mother who was held captive and this may affect her for some time to come. Stay tuned to THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS to find out what happens when Dominic Abbott Newman Chancellor comes home.
