Kyle and Summer's ultimate fate on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

On Friday's episode of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS Kyle flew to Milan and took Summer in his arms and kissed her. He said he was bringing her home but viewers know that Michel Mealor and Hunter King are no longer on the CBS soap. Viewer reactions to the situation have been varied with a majority showing themselves to be Skyle fans. Some have said that there will never be another couple who can portray Kyle and Summer as Mealor and King have done. Should the roles be recast there is no way of knowing how fans would feel.

On DAYS OF OUR LIVES, the fans did not care for Robert Kelker Kelly as Bo Brady as Peter Reckel who originated the role will always be seen as the one and only Beauregard Brady. Both Michael Mealor and Hunter King are recasts and fans had to get used to them. For the past three years, however, they have endeared themselves to most of those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Many fans have expressed dismay because of the way CBS has jerked the couple around.

When King returned to Genoa City the writers did not have her immediately get back together with Kyle. Summer was an obnoxious snob who rubbed Mariah and Tessa the wrong way and thus was dubbed "Snowflake." Kyle was clearly in love with her but Ms. Newman was playing games. She set her sites on Billy Abbott who was dating her mom at the time. She even made a bet with Kyle that she could get Billy in bed. This rubbed viewers the wrong way because Billy had been married to Victoria who0se brother Nick is Summer's dad.

When Billy and Summer eventually did hit the sheets they were uncle and niece even if only through marriage. To those watching THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, this was borderline incest. Once Kyle got tired of Summer's games and moved on with Lola she realized what she lost and began pursuing him. The rumor mill suggested that Skyle were supposed to remain married after they ended up husband and wife the first time when Summer became Lola's organ donor.

Allegedly an outgoing CBS vice president of daytime did not like Skyle and this is why Kyle divorced Summer and married Lola so abruptly. A new VP was hired and Kyle realized it was Summer he loved all along. Summer's immaturity, Lola being brought into the picture, and also Theo's meddling wasted precious time that the couple could have been together. To add insult to injury the current writing team brought Ashland, Tara, and Harrison to Genoa City.

One the rumor mill suggested a high profile actress was no longer satisfied with her role a number of those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS began suspecting it was King and who could blame her? Instead of a Skyle wedding, a little boy and a baby mama were brought in to disrupt the popular couple. Not everyone is a fan as a few viewers have said they never liked Skyle and will be glad that Mealor and King are leaving.

There are also some Y&R viewers who are disgruntled that the actors could not work something out and remain on the CBS daytime drama. These fans consider Mealor and King to be selfish and not recognize a good thing. Others believe the executives at THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS should have accommodated the actors and given them whatever they desired, There has not been as of this writing any confirmation that Friday was indeed the last time viewers will see Skyle together. The hug and kiss in Milan could be their swan song.

There still has not been any confirmation from Hunter King or CBS that she has indeed filmed her final scenes on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. The only thing viewers her to go on is Richard Burgi, (Ashland Locke) and Eileen Davidson(Ashley Abbott) stating on King's Instagram page that they miss her. Please note they did not say they were going to miss her so it sounds like she is already gone. To be fair, CBS has been pretty flexible with King in the past as she has come and gone a number of times from the show.

The ultimate fate of Kyle and Summer is in the hands of Josh Griffith the executive producer and head writer on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Once Mealor and King are gone the couple might never be mentioned again. There is always a chance they will be recast at a later date but for now, spoilers say Kyle will go to Milan with Summer. Some fans at this point are lamenting that COVID also kept the couple at arm's length and caused fans to miss love scenes between the two.

The rumor mill teases that Summer has some big announcement and some viewers believe it is the fact that she is not coming back to Genoa City. Others suspect that Summer might be carrying Kyle's baby. Some fans are still holding out for a wedding but whatever is coming has already been taped.
