Kathleen Gati on temporary hiatus from portraying Obrecht on 'General Hospital'

Soaps.com and Celeb Dirty Laundry are both reporting that Kathleen Gati will be away from General Hospital for a while. This will be a temporary storyline driven hiatus, so fans need not worry. Robert Scorpio has devised a plan to get the goods on Peter August and Liesl must be out of the picture for the scheme to work. Peter framed Obrecht for his many crimes and no one believes her but Robert, Jason, and Spinelli. Her daughter Britta and her best friend Franco have doubts, but the right people are on her side. With Spinelli's tech savvy, Jason's methods of obtaining information and the District Attorney using legal means to get to the bottom of things, Liesl will eventually be set free. This will take some time so Obrecht fans will not see their favorite character for quite some time. She will however return.

Liesl balked at Robert's idea initially, and demanded to be immediately set free. The DA explained to her that this is something that will take time, and must be done right so Peter does not slip through their hands. Obrecht had to agree but she did not like it. She is furious that Peter is living free while she is locked up and he is living with her daughter in law and grandson. Maxie has no idea of the danger that she and little James are in, or that her deceased husband's mother has been framed by the man she loves.When the truth comes out there will be a lot of people who will be shocked that Peter pulled off such an elaborate scheme. There will also be quite a few who will have to apologize to Obrecht because they doubted her.

Robert has never trusted Peter and Anna is blinded by love for her son. Deep down she knows that her ex husband and Jason are both correct in saying that Mr. August is still Henrik and as dangerous as his father Faison. Anna wants so desperately to believe that her son has changed and is living a better life that she has ignored every warning sign that he is dangerous. Spinelli wants to remove this criminal mind far away from Maxie and Georgie and Jason has had to restrain him from tipping his hand too soon. Meanwhile, Obrecht is locked away, paying for the one crime she did not commit. Eventually, however, the truth that she delivered Nelle's baby will come to light and she will be in the doghouse again.

Peter has probably never forgiven Liesl for keeping him hostage in the cabin, and this is his ultimate revenge. He believes he has gotten away with his misdeeds and spoilers say a game of cat and mouse will ensue between Anna's ex husband and her son. No time line has been given as to how long Kathleen Gati will be off screen but for her adoring fans, even a few episodes is too much. General Hospital viewers have come to love this wacky character, her weird sense of extracting justice, how she talks to herself and that accent. Fans can only watch this storyline play out and eagerly await the return of their favorite villainess. Britta and Franco will be very sorry that they did not have faith in the woman who loves them both.

General Hospital viewers have enjoyed Kathleen Gati over the years, especially her character's obsession with Cesear Faison, She had a way of saying his name that really could crack you up. Her feuds with Anna Devane have also been hilariously entertaining and epic. Gati began acting at age 20 and her credits include All M Children, Being Mary Jane, NCIS, and The Practice. The beautiful 62 year old actress is a shining light in an industry that often will not use women over a certain age, except for grandmotherly roles. Prior to being arrested, Liesl was living at Wyndemere with Nikolas and Ava. Once she is finally exonerated, there is no clear picture of what will be next for her character. Brad has been locked away in jail, and the storyline surrounding him is on hold.

Once the truth comes out, Liesl could be in big trouble for assisting Nelle while giving birth to her son. She will be in hot water for staying silent that Wiley was really Jonah. Knowing Obrecht, however, she will find a way to weasel out of this ordeal and not take the fall for her role in the baby switch.
