Kate Mansi takes over for Lexi Ainsworth soon on General Hospital

Kate Mansi replaces Lexi Ainsworth

With all the buzz about Haley Pullos (Molly Lansing Davis) being temporarily replaced on General Hospital by Holiday Kriegal fans might have forgotten that her on-screen sibling Lexi Ainsworth will no longer be portraying Kristina Corinthos Davis and Kate Mansi will now have the role. Pullos, 24 was involved in 2 accidents-one of them hit and run while under the influence and now is in a drug and alcohol rehab center.

Ainsworth released a statement saying she was moving on to other things in her career and that she appreciated her time on GH but fans know that she has not had a decent storyline in several years.

“I am currently working on writing on my own story from my point of view, which has been thus far cathartic and hopefully [will be] inspiring to other women.“After 10 transformative years, both personally and for my character, I will be leaving,” said Ainsworth. “I was looking forward to this upcoming storyline because it was inspired by a personal experience of mine.So I look forward to sharing that with you guys when it is completed.”

There may be more to the story of why Lexi was fired

The actress said the decision was mutually beneficial but her leaving the ABC soap really does not affect anything on screen since she was replaced and GH is moving on. One could infer from the above statement that Ainsworth wanted to remain on the soap and do the infertility story because she may have found out she is unable to have a hold. "Mutually beneficial" might indicate that the actress was let go by the powers that be. Some fans are wondering if her addiction was noticed on the set and played a role in the actress being let go.

Kristina was last seen on General Hospital attending the April wedding of her brother Michael Corinthos (Chad Duel) and Willow Tait (Katelynn MacMullen). Prior to that, she was mostly shown with her sisters Molly and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) running interference for their mother Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn). The Davis girls are often seen together at one time trying to figure things out.

Mansi is best known for portraying Abigail Deveraux the daughter of super couple Jennifer and Jack Deverfeaux ( Melissa Reeves and Matthew Ashford) on Days of Our Lives from 2011-16 and again from 2018-20. She received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations and in 2017 won for Outstanding Supporting Actress. She has also appeared in primetime series like Small Shots, Casa Grande, and How I Met Your Mother. Mansi had film roles in Maternal Secrets, The Office Mix-Up, and Legend of the Muse.

Kristina had been running the pub owned by her father (Sonny Corinthos) Maurice Benard but she has not been seen in the establishment in quite a while. Neither is she involved in the day-to-day drama in Port Charles and had not had a love interest in a long time. Mansi did not say whether or not she will be recurring or have a contract but spoilers suggest she might be part of an exciting storyline. Molly just found out that she has endometriosis and cannot give birth. It has been teased that Kristina might become a surrogate and carry the child for her sister and her domestic partner TJ Ashford (Taj Bellow).
