There is a being wandering the universe searching for its true purpose, but what it finds out on the farthest edges of the cosmos will change not just our universe, but many! Meanwhile, the war for the throne of Apokolips arrives on Earth, and the true ruler will only be decided one way: Who can destroy the Justice League?

I do miss the Justice League Unlimited cartoon so it’s nice to see they are expanding that with a new name and a new series. Also it is a fun way to read a Justice League title and be reminded of how many different heroes were in the League and no matter how silly their powers were or whether they were A-Listers to D-Listers they all managed to work together and get the job done. It is also really nice that this recognises itself as an extension of the cartoon when we see Shayera and Vixen chatting and John comes along wondering what they are talking about heh, that was great as was the responses. Oh how I’ve missed this, it’s fun quirky and reminds me of the Justice League International days.

I’m in love with the way that this is being told. The story & plot development we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented extremely well. The character development we see through the dialogue, the character interaction and how they act and react to the situations and circumstances that they encounter make them feel like old friends coming back into your life. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing the story it gets you excited for what’s to come.

I like the way that we see this being structured and how the layers within the story emerge and grow. The layers within this book are fantastic and we’re seeing multiple new arcs bubbling in the background, the characterisation and the twists in the story are present and whether they work with the main arc or swirl around it they bring this great depth and complexity to the story. How everything works together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is extremely well achieved.

The interiors here are utterly charming. They have this stupendous all-age appeal to them thanks to this terrific linework and how it’s being utilised to create the detail work that we see. That we get backgrounds here makes me such a happy camper and then to see them work within the composition of the panels to bring out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and the perspective in the panels show a remarkably talented eye for storytelling. The colour work is absolutely splendid. How we see the hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work is marvellous.

The whole idea of how this starts off and then the comedy of errors that follow really are what makes this so much fun. I love that kids can see this and love their favourite characters in action while adults will love the interaction and personality that we see within the characters. This really will have such a different impact on different folks and that's what is great about comics. It is also what makes this the perfect book to pass around the house and talk about it over a device free meal.

This is so smartly written and perfectly illustrated which of course makes this the most fun Justice League title on stands right now!
